Hirons has never failed to score against New Zealand... but you already knew that right? :P

Nor did Dreger.

Hm...maybe because he never played against them. :p

We also have never lost a match when Pondeljak has played for Australia

For those interested we're in Group D in the world cup, and we've managed to draw the following group

1. Italia
2. Slovensko
3. Norge
4. Australia.

I swear Italy and world cup campaigns, we had them last time in the world cup and the qualifying session before that, so it's a bit sickly to see them again so soon. We'll try our best, I suppose we have a chance of second spot so that's at least a positive.
Others feel free to comment :).

Very hard one, very hard...

so was the way we lost to New Zealand :(. Thought we played pretty well considering we didn't have Howarth King or Baveas or Nikas who was in hopeless form :(.

Yes, Australia wasn't worse for sure. Still you can see the difference between Australian and NZ strikers. 13min for Willis - didn't really got time to show something, though I think that he needs some pace to get useful.

Good luck in the World Cup! I will play against Spain, Schweiz and Brazil.

Amien scored from one of his early attempts, thought that was rather funny but also a huge sigh of relief to know that he can score.

Willis was meant to come on around the 70th minute mark as a last ditch effort to set up a goal. I would have had him on earlier except then I would have used the 3 subs a little earlier than I would have wanted to.

I don't think they were expecting quite what they got. If we had of finished better like when Hrehoresin got a brilliant pass from Timpano to have a possible one on one, he just didnt take advantage of it :(.

NZ strikers are quality, I always knew that but I really thought up until Widera got sent off we were the better side. Will be interesting to hear what other people have to say regarding the game.
2007-07-07 09:36:12
I also think we were better. What I meant was that we were getting situations with mids performance and NZ got situations with strikers tech and pace.
2007-07-07 09:40:35
Yeah, means we need to improve our strikers and I think in time we will. I was considering before the game playing a striker who could also tackle as I noticed Ireland caused a few headaches for NZ last week when they tackled the defenders.

What would you prefer Dreger to train? I'm thinking about 1 pace pop so Willis will get faster, and then technique.
2007-07-07 09:48:56
Well tbh both of the two need a lot more pace, so I'd suspect a few levels of pace wouldn't hurt either of them.

But yeah Dreger will need some more technique at some stage, but I think pace is a bit more urgent atm.
2007-07-07 09:49:54
I'm going to make full season of pace in next season, so I guess he will be quite complete after it.
2007-07-07 09:51:17
If he continues to pop like he did with tech I can't see no reason why not ;).
2007-07-07 09:53:32
:)
Willis has better talent though, got a full pop to formidable technique after 3 trainings! :)
