Asunto: »[info] Dev Diary 77: Tax reform (final)

2020-04-20 23:03:11
do not forget that we are 10,000 users. Many of us played the game for many years. So we really like the way it is. be careful with the changes. Yes evolution. No revolution. If we change the game a lot and get 2000 new users but 4000 old users leave it ... bad business. And the old users we have shown to be very faithful ... we do not know the new users !! hehe

If we change...? The programmers change, we just play. Or in some cases play and actually add something more to Sokker; making help programms, making apps, making logos, making other things.

Sokker needs to be updated drasticly, an evolution of everthing. This should have been done slowely over the past decade but 'upgrades' where nothing more as polishing a turd. So now it has to be done all at once. Bad business is to do way too little and keep going the way it goes and watch Sokker slowly die. Sokker needs new active players badly!

You mentioned 10.000 players. I think most of these 10.000 are not active at all, see forum which is completely dead, see new sign ups also dead as no one is getting new players to Sokker, number of coaches on the transferlist is also dead as almost no one is activily recruiting new ones anymore, small countries have become tiny countries, etc. And most probably just a very small percentage of the 10.000 are still active players. DEVs will have the numbers of unique logins each day, and I'm pretty sure they know exactly how bad it is.

And what is wrong with 12-18 year players who want to learn this game and like slow gaming? There are hunderds of millions of gamers, or even billions. You can't say 'they' (a very large group) are no Sokker players. Or you did a serious market research and know the numbers, but I hardly doubt that. Besides, how many did start at the age of 18 or a bit older, and are now the 30+ year old players. If Sokker can get 200.000 12-18 year old players to this game and 'only' 1% keeps playing, Sokker has 20% more managers as it has today!

Yes, it should still be Sokker, but finally completely updated. The website looks like crap, the graphics look like crap, the layout of options is in some cases crap (tactic editor under training, tiny right upper corner while this is one of the best things of Sokker, youth school in office, and more)

I like the fact that you said sokker upgrades were "Polished" :-p

I wonder what graphics Sokker will use, what new style. And what ever style it wil be, I really hope all will get the same looks, so all fits together.

Not like how it is right now, with terrible looking player faces on player page, completely different style '3d' player, completely different style 2d match viewer and stadium, the Plus page completely different as the other pages, etc.

I think that we are waiting some months....to see new graphics

Well...I don't really know if it's coincidence but I needed to "click" the flash button every time I logged in to be able to see the tactics and line-ups displayed on the pitch in the matches individual reports or the tactics editor.
This evening I started sokker... all worked without the need of a "click"...
Maybe they fixed more than a "bug" allready ;-)

I think that we are waiting some months....to see new graphics

If that means quality will be implemented, I'm fine with that ;D

Most of us waited years and years for this moment, so a few more month is not a problem at all. As long as no one ever comes again with the crappy faces style!

Dev's need to work...quiet...

We are waiting....In muy case, I'm here since 2006 and I'm plus user for all years....I can wait months.... :)

I stopped paying Plus because of all the lying about making this game better with Plus money. I think someone had very nice holidays each year with all that money, instead of spending it on updates and new implementations as promised on the Plus page.

Sokker is a game that has lasted 15 years (a lot!) with thousands of passionate players, almost all adults.

many games for young people last a few months or a few years.

It is right to look for new users. But you need to be very careful. the game must not be distorted.

the game must remain a game for lovers of the genre, and perhaps there will be some young people who want to enter ... and so it will last another 15 years. If instead you want to look for many young kids and distort the game, you will have many users, for 1-2-3 years and then death.

I think sokker doesn't need any kind of interface re-design.
The look don't make the game better, who is still here don't really care about faces and 3d.

We are dinosaurs, that's why we like 2D

W 2D !!!

A first conclusion would be that in a very short time, almost 80 topics about the desired changes were opened. No game will be perfect. Do we really want a completely different game or do we just want some improvements in the critical areas of the game? What should a DEV understand from all this madness?
2020-04-21 15:46:06
Yea, when I see how many people want changes in million places, I wonder, am I the only one who actually likes this game?

People need to tone it down with conceptual changes.
Flash needs to be replace, viewer will need a lot of work.
Engine has issues. Engine actually drove most of the user away.
There is a lot of small tweaks, which all users want. About CL participation, day trading, etc.

I don't give a s**t about big training reform that somebody wants.
