What version of Android do you have?
What version of Android do you have?
This IS what ChatGPT says:
"My Android app has stopped working on Android 9, but it still works on Android 13. Has there been a recent update that could explain this?"
--
"It does look like a recent Android System WebView update may be the culprit behind your app breaking on Android 9.
On June 18, Google pushed WebView v138, introducing security improvements and bug fixes—but also “new developer features” for rendering web content . Since Android 9 relies on WebView for in-app web content (even though it generally leverages Chrome), any API changes or tightened validation in this update could inadvertently cause your app to crash or cease functioning correctly on that version.
Other updates (Play Services, Play Store) seem unrelated to core web content handling .
✔️ Recommended next steps
1. Reproduce the issue on Android 9 device/emulator post–June 18 WebView update.
2. If confirmed, roll back WebView:
Go to Settings → Apps → Android System WebView and uninstall updates.
3. Test again. If this resolves it, you’ve narrowed the problem to the WebView changes.
You can then:
Adapt your app’s WebView usage to accommodate the new version.
File a bug report with Chromium’s WebView project.
Prematurely disable auto‑updates on WebView for Android 9 users until a fix is out.
> ℹ️ Note: Also keep in mind that Chrome support for Android 9 is ending soon—version 138 is the last, with Chrome 139 requiring Android 10+ starting August 5, though Chrome will still function . This doesn’t directly break your app now, but indicates the growing obsolescence of Android 9 WebView/Chrome environments."

Same issue, same resolution here. All works fine after a new install.
