yes, low def line will work vs low att line of opponent, but you can be screwed if he uses a high att line
same if he uses intentional switches from side x to the winger side, while also having a wide striker on that side [the auto-marking will screw you up, either the ATT or WING will be left uncovered all the time, you'll get killed by crosses or through balls on that side after side switches]

I would add to that having an att something close to 3x18 will make your life so easy.
With strikers around 3x16 ypu struggle a lot

There are more tactics to win as 5-3-2.

I took the games vs top 4 teams in the league [you being number 1 it leaves us #2, #3 and #4]

Wrong example, 1 game tells nothing.
This season for example I played against 13 average rating points higher and won 0-2. against 5-3-2.
I did not rule but 3 atts will score easier as 1/2 atts with less attempts.

Feel free to show me the examples when your 3 ATT striker tactic "ruled the 5-3-2" against a similar strength opponent :-)

You need to win in sokker not to have the most attempts.
Even in your own last example you see that it was 2-3 only with 4-18 in attempts, 3 atts will score more easy.
With 3 super atts posted the right way in a tactic, you can win with every 3att tactic.

You lost 2:3 against a weaker team.
That dominated you in shots 18:4 and you were just lucky with scoring 2/4 because the handicap kicked in. Great example.
