Asunto: NEWS Sokker- big changes are coming!
3 months ago they announced that they are working on changes with PLUS prices etc.
Apparently they are still working on it after 3 months
Honestly it's better to accept that they've run out of money and there won't be any significant changes in nearest year

That's kind of a weird comment
Sell to who? For how much?
They have a stable PLUS income that gives them decent extra money every month and they don't have to do anything to get it. They (greg and Damian) only had to rewrite the flash code to keep the game running and that was funded by two new minor owners (who invested a lot and quite probably will need quite some years to get that back from their share of game income)
a. there's no point in selling a business that gives decent revenue without further investments
b. unless there's a very good financial offer
c. why would anyone want to invest big money in this game when everyone sees that it's a very small, slowly dying game

a. The game is dying as you wrote in (c). The revenue is not really decent anymore and is getting worse.
b. I made a calculation about a month ago, the offer would not be good with current numbers.
c. There is no need for big money investment to make the game better, just a group of people that are willing to work on it.
They should sell it, so they dont see their child die. Unless they really want to :D.

the number of plus users is +/- constant, so they don't really have to do anything to keep getting the money...
and with decent ad campaign they can probably keep a stable 10k users

and that's why they won't sell it, it's not a product worth investing it, but it's also a product that brings them good money without effort
c. There is no need for big money investment to make the game better, just a group of people that are willing to work on it.
it's the same thing, you need time for coding, developing etc.
it doesn't matter if you do it yourself, it's also an investment [work that you would normally get money for]
what I think you are proposing is them giving the game for free or selling for very low amount, so other people can make money on it while doing some work on the game by themselves
who would agree to that? nobody :) especially as minor owners just invested quite heavily in the game (apparently the sokker company made a loss of over 40k euro in 2021, which is when the new owners got their small share in company for investing their money into game development)

Interesting, you are saying they have stable income and on the other hand 40k euro in loss for a year (2021).
That does not add up.
Also the descent income is not that decent, i am not sure how many of them there are with the minor shareholders.
But it looks like it is about 4500 a month. Even for Damian and Greg 2250 a month is not much, definitely not decent.
And that was without expenses. So its much less.

it does add up because the loss was created solely by additional investments in the game development [rewriting the whole flash code, new layout, training changes, league changes etc.], that was the money paid by new minor owner for their shares of the game

G&D had an have no additional expenses and they have 80% of the business [40% + 40%]
it's not their main source of income, they are doing nothing here for 10+ years, only collecting money
3500euro+ monthly only for them, so around 42000 yearly
why would they want to sell? it would be stupid.
they actually made the good move - other people paid (probably 50k+) for needed expenses without which the game would be deleted to get 20% of the business :-)

Sure. It's once again a status quo between a game that's not profitable, and a game that's not losing enough money.
It's also clear that no one working at full-time on the game.
It's even quite clear from the latest announcements that the intention is to raise money, particularly from 'plus' subscriptions, but not upgrading the game.
The stupidest idea they've come up with: In one of the previous change packages, we introduced the possibility for the coaches of the national teams to preview the skills of the players of a given nationality (unless the owner objected). The feature has been on trial activated for all national team coaches, but from next season it will only be available to Assistant owners.
Good luck with that.

1. If the new development was paid by the new investors, then there would be no loss. But you say there was a loss of 40k.
2. They have expenses. Servers. That may not be as cheap as you think.
So my guess would be 1k monthly for each of them. You can call that decent, i dont.

As an extra income I would take it, especially since it's free money ;)
So they need to hope the game can survive for 10 years so they could fill their loss pit of 40k with annual plus revenue without doing anything.
I know thousands of ways to invest money to make it much more profidable in less time.
If they sell it for the investments they make plus the price for the servers and then a fixed price for the product in it's total, they don't need to wait for 10 years to get their money back.
I don't see them doing this out of love for the game though...

Dont forget it is declining. And if they actually make the prices higher with not providing any additional value then it will go down even faster.

I will take you on this. I need only one. But shoot me a message with top 10, hope i will like at least one of them :-).

Well...you do need to work for that but at least it will make your money fill the closet in stead of this pit that needed to be made first...
But basically...any job you do will make more money than this.
You can invest in lots of banc products, real estate,... make a business...the sky is the limit.

1. They "just" lost their investment. Until they didn't loose money in their balance there is no reason to sell or shutdown the website.
2. Servers could be use for other projects/works and free of charge for Sokker. For a game that has been losing users for years, this is even the most credible scenario in my opinion.

I see what you mean. Yes, anything is more profitable. But i see what borkos is saying, its a passive income for them (with an end date).
I already have a job that pays definitely better than 1k a month :-).
I am also a partner in an Canadian fintech start-up.
Also investing in stocks.
Stopped trading gold recently.
I just wanted new ideas, when you had thousands :-P.
But that's off topic.
