Back about 13 years ago i had a few investors that wanted to buy sokker. Greg just said no, did not even ask the price.
At that time i would have invested my time to improve sokker. Not anymore.
But you can still see that there are and were people including myself (sokker.cz RIP, oSokker RIP), kryminator, Geston, Mikoos, those two Brazilian guys that created NTDB, the other tools SV, SO (sorry don't know who made them), i am sure there are more people.
All those people made sokker better for free.
So yes, there are crazy people who would do that.
Also the people would not do that for free anymore, it would become their own project with the goal to gain more users, therefore more income.
Instead of letting the game die.

Number of users in 2023 is inflated due to the last waves of new accounts (that mostly will be bots soon)
New accounts with trial plus are not counted as plus users in my statistics

that's great, but I wouldn't compare these projects with working with a complicated [apparently it's barely understandable...] code of their match engine & rewriting, improving a match engine...

Yes, it would be similar to Raul & Mekene. With the exception that they would own 100% instead of 12/8%.
I find it insane that they invested 40k for 20% of the game. The game is not worth 40k at 100% at the moment.
But it does not seem to work well for them as the progress is very slow.

These are the words of coders that actually saw the code - it's apparently badly written and outdated, hard to understand and improve/change

even by your estimation (imo undervalued) the game makes a clear profit yearly of 22k euro
you really think that 100% value of this game is lower than its 2 yearly dividends? :-)

If you had a business that without any work gives you net 20k yearly in three years would you sell it for 40k? It would be ridiculous to make such decision.
At least I think everyone is agree that there is no more investment of time and money in the game whatever profit or not.
I've been watching this kind of ads in Facebook for the last weeks and now I see the number of registered users has tripled :D

Btw. They should do language variations, the registration numbers would be even better.
Even young Spaniards do not speak English, except maybe those living in the metropoles. I live in a holiday destination where you would expect people speak at least decent English and or other languages (German, French), but thats not the case, mostly just broken English, few words.
