Then it's sh1t happens, since these are football rules. 3 subs is old and needs to be updated. + on the bench why not hving 10 players, to have a wider choice, i don't see issues with it. Moreover it's very realistic and part of football.

On top of that, again, why should a manager lose one substitute because, we're old fashioned with 3 subs especially with increased injuries and twice as many games per week compared to before. Not whining but realistically speaking 5 subs + longer bench is pretty important update.

Exactly, that is why i think an order similar to the one used to designate penalty and free kick should be used to designate a field player, for this kind of situations, or if left blank, closest player to the goal should become next gk, and so save a substitution slot.

Order "red card or no player" is usable.

big thumbs up as this was resolved. My GK got injury and was replaced by first player on the bench which saved the game.

It's not resolved.
Injuried players were always substitued if u haven't done 3 subsitutuions before the injury happened.
