Friends, our friend Yogurtu-Nge had a recommendation that I would like to share with you. Our friend asked if we could think of a format in which the eliminated teams could continue the tournament. I said there would be no problem, I would be happy to do it. I also need your thoughts on this matter. Say what?

To elaborate a bit more, my idea is pretty simple: the same way teams qualified 1st and 2nd in the group stage will qualify for a round of 16 and continue playing until we have a champion, I propose we do the same for teams which qualified 3rd and 4th. in the group stage. That way we all continue playing at least for 1 more round.
These would be like 2 separate tournaments after the group stage and the same rules will apply for both. Thoughts?

After the group stages you have games for 1-16th place and 17th-32nd.
The winners and losers proceed to play 1-8th, 9th-16th, 17th-24th and 25th-32nd.
Next round: 1-4, 5-8, 9-12, 13-16, 17-20, 21-24, 25-28 and 29-32.
And then you have 16 classification finals with the winners taking 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, .... , 31rd place.
That would have the advantage that everyone gets to play the same amount of games and you eventually end up playing teams that are probably very close to your own level.
But it obviously takes a bit longer to organize.

Clearly free plus will only be for the winner of the main tournament, or Champions League as LowPing called it.
