Asunto: too many 3x/5x divines and such
Just X number of levels would be good enough for managers to choose how their players will look like 3 more levels on top of 18 or even 4 would create the moment that managers would choose something over something else. To be tested in advance for sure would help to not create chaos :D
It's never going to be a good idea for everyone.
Some like the idea, some don't.
I suggested a similar kind of thing back some years ago. In which I found that a player should have its strong inborn gifts and lesser skills, where a player will indicate he cannot progress any further from a certain point, but he should be able to have 1 strong skill from the start (higher than excellent)

I have concerns whether this would work. If someone went all in for tech as a striker that by default means all defenders have to now have max defense, On the assumption defenders have max defense, strikers now need max tech -> self fulfilling. Could say now that some can’t even get to that but then we end up with those players being considered bad just like many do with juniors that aren’t 3.1-3.3 talent etc. Sinilarly GKs would just get max gk, requiring strikers for max striker with higher levels that’s unlikely to happen and given the randomness of scoring already you’d take the tech over striker anyway in order to create more chances.
To get anything different you’d need to vastly improve what skills do so you can see clear differences and that isn’t happening anytime in the near future as that will be match engine changes.
Might give the illusion of choice but it’s not really much of a choice when people start min/maxing. It’s the same reason tactics look almost the same at high end because that’s the optimal pathway. You’d come up with some optimal level/combination and the majority would stick to that, thus once again being in a position of players are too similar etc.

worst situacion is in gk position and we have righ now so many gk with 17-18 gk.... in old trainink system trained gk few guys because could train only 2 players....

if i am thinking about pace, hate youth with pace 0,1,2,3....Youth with pace 0,1,2,3 are quickly like baby, pensioner or 150 kg man. Pace is different skills like other. Pace is inborn and pace trainik do not change pace too much.
I would change minimum pace skill for coming youth to (example) 5-8... and max ending to 10-13....

Simply increase max skil to 22-23, instead of 18 and there would be much more fun and very different styles of play.
Currently it is for defs 18-18 and secondaries 10+ and all players are clones. Very boring actually.
if one could choose between 21-21 with secondaries 7-7-7 or 23pace+20def with 7-7-7, or a nice 17-17 all rounder with secondaries on 10, would be interesting to see what would people pick and how would they play

or would you make an attacked with pace 23 and 16-16, or would you go for a 3x18, or a slow guy with max tech and str :D
we cant add more skills due to it already being maxed out in theory in relevance to match looking natural... if we add more pace then players will run faster then the ball etc...
like cometer is saying and i tried to say before, you add more skills it changes very little, as people will still go maxing out the basics of defender or stiker etc...
capping at certain skill, say magical, and giving one skill to go to divine would force these differences in every player, finding the perfect trainee would be even harder, but would make more sense too
as now you could be like yo i got this 16yo hes talented (say Messi), im gonna make him a defender.... while in real life Messi would be shit def despite all his talents

I think it could work, im more concerned if they can code it into the game and ME.
I still stand by my statement if there are (for example) let's suppose 4 extra levels you as a manager can adopt it to different tactical plays. I can understand concern for GK but at the same time you have the choice to train your player to 24 technique or DEF or pace or whatever but for sure you cannot MAX them all out. There are pros and cons but i would again be more concerned how they can modify the ME not having maxed out players or that a striker dribbles all defenders which is not even happening now.
Tactical aspect with ''extra levels'' will be there as for sure you need to make compromises how you distribute skills. Go ahead and play with 5-3-2 as always, with 4 extra levels there would be flaws in your tactics ;)

nope, this change would actually suit the current 532/523 even more
the central midfielders already underperform in comparison to the "resources" spent on training their 5 skills to high level, if their skills were even lower [in context] then they would be even less impactful
ATTs [in comparison] would be even easier to train so their impact would improve, same with wingers who need 4 skills instead of 5 like MIDs and DEFs [to some level]
since ATTs level would decrease by lowest rate then they would still be the driving force, same with wingers, hence you'd need 5 at the back even more and as high pace/def by neglecting the training of passing and pm/tech to lower extent
since quality and performance of CMs would go down you would definitely not need to use more than 2, so nothing would change here as well
it would be also even harder to create a useful "10/wide striker" so this position/role would go to the gutter etc.
