why does a winger need defending?

just look my last cup match to see what happen when your player have no defender. Not steal balls, more bookings...

One winger without defender could be awesome, but only with defender he could be perfect ;P

but the winger is just to give passes to the forwards from the wing...thats their only job ;)

I agree.Wingers dont need def,of course is better that they have it,but they´re true job is to attack not to defend.

The best attack is the defender.

I would better have my winger with 3x divine (pace, technique and passing) and good defending than 3x brilliant and outstanding defending!

loop is right. It's all about tactics. If you let your winger without def tackle the ball, you've done a bod job. If you can give him the ball, you can create some great opportunities.
