@looger
got two a-strikers, one with excellent (nearly formidable) and one with weak playmaking, there is no real difference
Ah...?
I have one striker with formidable pm and one with hopeless... the hopeless is much weaker, he runs into the gk, and after throw-ins he is waiting for the defender to lose the ball, while my formidable pm striker is just shooting - it's a chance.
In my experience this depends on playmaking... and that's why I think that pm is actual very important for strikers.

From the rules:
If your player’s playmaking skill is poor, he may start to look around for someone to pass to causing him to lose pace and therefore will be easier to tackle.
Therefor, the higher the playmaking level of the striker is, the faster the striker will start his sprint (if he has decent pace).
edit: and I can see the difference myself between low pm strikers and high pm strikers in the games..

no its wrong.
you are wrong and looger is aswell.
I'm sorry to say, but you didn't understand the game :(
the decision to pass is made situation based from the match engine.
there are 3 events
1st pass
2nd shoot
3rd dribble
no skill is used to decide what to do here.
if the game engine decides for a pass, then playmaking is used and he starts looking around longer or shorter.
this is how things work and playmaking has absolutely nothing todo with when a player starts t o run, thats a hoax flying around very long and I would like it if people finally stop with telling this untrue thing

Are you telling me that your strikers never, but NEVER pass the ball instead of shoot it?

That's why pm is for me important there, as a striker without pm is unable to make a decision. He is slower overall, as he needs to think longer, especially if he plays more defensive.

no, but it takes them longer to make a decision.

My opinion is the following.
A striker with very high technique and relatively low scoring (let's say excellent) would be worse if he had much playmaking!Coz in that way,all his technique would be more for nothing, coz he wouldn't dribble, but would pass or shoot with not that much effectiveness.
On the other hand,if his technique sucked (f.x. solid) then his high PM would be crucial!
So all in all,you can't say if PM is a priority or not..other things are involved too.

and why is that? PM does not determine whether or not a player will either pass, shoot or dribble... At least that's what greg said, and I think we can all trust him in that matter :P
