Surely also European teams don't say no to another title. But not at all cost. And most of the fans don't give a f*ck I suppose. Besides, this tourny has very little presence in media too in Europe.
All in all, it's like the Confed Cup or something - nice to have, but the real titles are gained elsewhere.

there is another thing about win matches to be the best player ever. it's about wonderful show every and every match.
If we are only take in touch players who win matches in his only one, probably Ronaldo, messi and CR (in this order) will be the top 3. But they never will do the impresive things could do people like Zidane, Iniesta or Ronaldinho. And they still win many matches in his only one.
In fact, for me Ronaldinho did the best seasons ever and I don't think we never will be something similar, football videogame match over match used to win matches, but he got lost in the way and dampened his work. So he has to be out of the list.
Maradona take the best average about win matches / show offered, and won the most important matches have played in the history with one of the best goals ever, for example. So for me it's the number one. Maybe drugs are his problem so it's dubious.
Messi could be the second in the future, or the first if he work hard. His game it's not impressive for his "show", but the show are his stats. How can improve his performance day by day breaking all the numbers.
Zidane is the second for me now, messi still didn't finished his career. I never though he can regulary win matches in his only one, but see that kind of moves and elegance in a person of 1,90 m for me is enough. Another amazing goal in a important match. In spain we have our little zidane, Iniesta, maybe some day he can be compared with him.

I am not a fan of Messi, but I can agree with Gohf point, that Messi (technically) is way better than Maradona or Pele.
Also I can agree with an earlier comment that Maradona's fame is over-exagerated due to the WC'1986 episode, and its politics. (which in my view, is a hand of a cheat, clear cut case).
A football player who cheats on any level, for me can NEVER be even considered the best - football player. On the other hand in a sense, Maradona just did what religion does in general, justifies the unjustified with nonsense, blind faith follows - in this case, in Maradona's supremacy. Don't get me wrong his skills were amazing, and he is still definatly in the top 10 of the best players of all time.

i saw maradona playing, never saw pele..my opinion, ronaldo and messi are by far better players..but it's a fascination about history
not to mention the physique of athletes, they ate beef and pork then
