It doesn't in any direct way. However, arbitrary minimum wages can't be sustained: the fast food restaurant may simply make not enough money to pay those wages, therefore firing people/closing down. That means fewer taxes and fewer contributions to social security being paid.
It could be the case that the impact in employment is not too big (there is a large debate in the empirical literature about minimum wages in the US). However, it can't be true for any minimum wage - otherwise, why not set a € 3kk minimum wage? :D So, some people would argue that minimum wages are always harmful or useless, at any level, while other may find a basis for some minimum wage to be a good idea, but only if it is low enough. So, among those supporting the idea of a minimum wage, the debate should be about what is the right level of minimum wage. There is no obvious reason why it should be 750, or 100, or 1000 - it would take a very careful and evidence-backed argument to support any particular number. Among those not supporting minimum wages, there is no debate, just don't set any minimum wage at all :P

and they won't find jobs, because the PRIVATE BUSINESS SECTOR is ruined by Troika's brilliant ideas
Let's fuck up the private wages, allow unlimited lay-offs,increase VAT and other taxation, that will make Greeks buy more and pay Europe's money back

A high minimum wage means a high amount of taxes payed by the employer and of course, more payments with the salary. He has to raise the prices to be able to pay all those things, so shawarma gets more expensive, noone buys shawarma, the empoyer goes bankrupted and gets uneployed with all his employees and the state can pay them social security payments. It's dangerous to set a high minimum wage level, if your economy cannot afford it. But sure, its a great propaganda stuff, everyone likes high wages, who cares about the consequences? :)
I dont like dutch colors, but Netherlands are really great one :-D.
BTW, I always suppose that you have just bad copy of french flag :-D

i agree with you that 750 euro minimum wage won't make things better at this point
Economy is completely FUCKED and that will lead to more unemployment
Some increase must happen at some point in the future, but only afted a study of it's side-effects like you say
what i really want to see tomorrow if possible is a new legislation about work rights, that have been completely violated the past 3 years

The minimum wage protects employees from fat cat profiteers. A company has a right to make a profit, but employees have a right to live a modest life by working a full week.
as i said to Don Enzo,an increase at some point in the future, only after a study and with all parts involved in dialogue (state, employers, employees) will be necessary
a big increase now would be unwise and probably harmful and i don't think they will go for it immediatelly

That is the goal. Is that the outcome? That's not a settled debate. Minimum wages may protect workers by imposing a more balanced share of the profits, or it may "protect" them by just making it impossible to work for the "fat cat profiteers", who will only run the business if they can get the "unprotected" level of profits - it depends on what is their alternative. And, of course, it won't protect anyone in markets with low wages and high competition... In the end, minimum wages can only grant a certain living standard to those who work, but it can't grant employment.
In Europe minimum wages have a better reputation than in the US, but then again, Germany side-stepped it with "minijobs" to bring unemployment down. In many other countries (US included), the "informal sector" (i.e., illegal or undeclared activities) is playing the same role...

I don't know, what's the Greek minimal wage right now, and how brutal raise is 750€.
But I find the other half of the idea very interesting: that it should be only for private industries. It could be a big advantage for the public sector, so it could have a higher relative proportion, and government could increase it's economic weight. Interesting idea.

Employees are also inhabitants, so they had to pay for loans of their country and for this you need have high taxes, low pensions and low public expenditures and free liberal work laws etc etc.
You can not ignore the fact that your country had to pay back the debts, the people will have to do that, by taxes and so... so you can not have modest life, you had to have poor life next few decades and then they can learn from mistakes and dont vote populist cheating parties again.

Sure, everyone would love to see their wages increased. But i'd like to see the corruption terminated in our countries first, you cannot have any laws, economy or anything else with a high level of corruption.
Indeed, at Greece's current level of unemployment, increasing the number of jobs is the first priority, even if working conditions are not that great right now. That by itself would have an impact on market wages, independently on what eventually happens with legal wages.

they still live beyond their means, cos they need help also from slovakia where is minimal wage 380€ !
They should cancel minimal wage! And not raise it.
But we are good nation, we will try to help to hold luxury life for greeks ,no matter how hard we had to work for them.

Jesus rumpil, you'd be a great Stalin :) They have to pay back the debt, so tax'em more! :)) How about showing them how to increase their productivity so they can easily pay all the debts without feeling the weight of it? :)
I am raising my salary each few years and I dont need stupid state for that :-). I just ask it and market says that I deserve it ;-). Why this simple logical rules can not be everywhere. you can all say a lot about how market is not working good, but it is bullshit, market is working good, just state control is making it worse :-(
