Asunto: Football Strategy - Brand New Manager Game

I understand that testing is very necessary, because there is nothing more annoying than a game with bugs that don't get fixed (oh Sokker...). I'm just saying I'm only interested when the game is started for real ;-)

I guess it's perfectlly fine. I guess it is better to 'start' a thing that is well tested and that can be 'resetted' to fix advances and advantages than could have been obtained derived from unexpected bugs and/or exploits. Anyway, it would be advisable to define well the extent (in time lenght and circumstances) of the test period upon starting of the beta, to avoid to dissapoint any of the testers (which would be users also).

[FS] will also offer actual cash & prizes for top league and Cup winners, but I don't want to get into specifics about this aspect yet.

About this issue, I'm not sure if I would like to participate in such a game. If the 'cash & prices' refers to real money... definitely not. If they are game's cash & prizes... maybe neither (tough I'd like to know all the specifics). League prices would be absolutely unfair for the 2nd and the rest, and the advantages in fans, sponsors and atendencies should be enogh to reward a 1st position.

For Cup (as here in Sokker) could have some meaning, in the sense to tempt users to involve more seriously in the national Cups. But let's be realistic: the prices are too low (any ticket revenues bring more money in the last matches that whe Champion's price), and they can mark a difference only in the case of new countries with few users. So, it could be not necessary also (the ticket revenues from reaching far in a tourney of official matches can reward perfectly the involvement of the clubs).

And about the system of 'fixed prices', both for transfers and loans,... sadly I guess they could be only a big source of cheating and/or exploits. Exploits as there indoubtedly would appear 'farm teams' for loaned ones, and cheating in the sense that you could 'pass' without problems players form a team to another at cheap prices, so the clubs with more friends ('friends's federations'?) will have enormous advantages over teams who stick to play as an independent football club (as it should be, btw).

Anyway, and tough the register can currently not be active, perhaps could be a good idea to open the access for the 'suscribers' to the in-game forum (or, if not possible, to a temporary, external 'developing forum'), to comment on the features, offer feedback, and discuss the possibilities of the system, before the date of the start.

@ Tiolucas

Thanks for the feedback, allow me to clarify some points:

I did mention that [FS] will be able to support cash & prizes (real) but I can't disclose any information due to the fact that it has not been deeply talk about and is something we will be asking the community during the Beta just like many things. [FS] cups are somewhat similar to Sokker (you can read about it in the rules section), however, I don't see how league (top tier) and/or cup prizes would make the game unfair so if you can elaborate more on this topic I can give you a better answer.

As for the fixed prices, we have a system in place that will eliminate any possible cheats/exploits. When Beta starts you will see that it would be impossible to do so and if by any chance there is a leak that we were not able to figure it out, rest assure we will get it fix at all cost. We take any kind of cheating in-game very seriously and we will be actively involve in this aspect.

We were thinking about having an external forum but we had just announce the game and we don't want to waste our resources in something unnecessary as we would not be able to provide the support we would like. Right now we are just 20 days away, on a very tight schedule to make this project start.

We have release a community FAQ today:

When will Beta officially start?

We are still on schedule to have a public Beta at the end of March. We strongly suggest to “subscribe” at our official website (footballstrategy.org) so we can inform you if any changes were to occur and also get up-to-date news via e-mail.

How long will the Beta last?

We don’t know exactly how long the Beta can last. After fully testing a season and have gathered enough data, we will then be able to determine a time-frame for launch.

What will happen to my Beta account at launch?

Just like most games, after Beta [FS] will reset for launch. However, you will have the option to keep the same club name and transfer to any country that will be available at launch. If you choice this option, you will keep the same forum account and will receive an exclusive “Beta” testing award. Otherwise, your account will be permanently deleted.

How often will you provide improvements?

You can expect patches at least once a week. Our mind-set is to work constantly around-the-clock and offer a very close relationship with the Community; in fact you can expect interaction from everyone who has been involved in creating [FS].

What languages do you plan to support?

We plan to add support for the following languages shortly after Beta starts: Spanish, Italian, Turkish, Polish, Romanian, Hungarian, French, Greek, German, Portuguese, Russian, and Dutch.

Is the game free to play?

Yes, the game is completely free to play. However, we do plan to incorporate a “Plus” system without any actual in-game advantages; rather offer visual enhancements for a minimum monthly fee.

What can I do to show my support for [FS]?

You can show your support by spreading the word, and interacting in our social media pages (twitter, facebook, and youtube).

Will I need to download anything in order to view the 3D sim?

Yes, our visual 3D sim uses Unity 3D in order to offer the ultimate experience right on your browser. You can download the require add-on for free here: http://unity3d.com/webplayer/

What Country-Based leagues will [FS] support?

[FS] plans to support all Europe, NA, and SA countries. We also have included other countries such as Australia. However, during Beta (for testing purposes) we will only enable eight countries.

Will the site support external tools?

The site currently doesn’t support any external tools/API, but we are always willing to listen to the community when Beta starts.

How can I contact [FS] via e-mail?

You can contact us at contact@footballstrategy.org with any concerns or enquires.

Sounds great. I am looking forward to it :)

Is there RSS/Atom feed option as the Football Strategy news source (alternative to email subscription)? If not, could you create some RSS channel? It shouldn't be difficult, especially if You were able to develop the full game (:

@Kryminator

At this moment we don't have a feed option, but we will include it shortly after Beta for the homepage news.
