Cameroon absolutely rubbish again, they always qualify but never seem to be up for it.

Croatia 4 -0 :-)

Good referee, and good croatian fight, in the heat of Manaus.
1/8 final still to go, but Mexico is good team.

...or maybe you're simply too young to remember
Camerun was probably the first african team showing that the continent can do well...

In 1982 they did very well and Tomas N'Kono, their goalkeeper impressed the world for his agility and talent... Gigi Buffon named his son Tomas in honor to N'Kono...
They were eliminated without losing a match...

in 1990 Camerun got very close to semifinals, losing only in the extratime to England 3-2 (after being winning 2-1 and after 2 penalties for England)...
and after winning with the former World Champion Argentina in the opening match... and that was the Maradona's Argentina (Maradona... do you know who the guy is?)
they also won on Romania, got to the second part of the competition and won over Colombia 2-1 (the René Higuita's Colombia...)
they were the first african team to get to quarter finals. Ever.
Moreover everyone remembers Roger Milla, the aged forward who played a unforgivable tournament... being afterwards elected "african player of the century"...

In '94 and '98 they did not give good performances, but in 2002 they missed passing to the second part for just 1 point...

Cameroon absolutely rubbish again, they always qualify but never seem to be up for it.

not always... in 2006 they did not qualify...

You can google it, it's not difficult ;)

Yep, i wouldnt remember their golden age, i was born in 91, just they have seemed to let infighting and other things get in the way of them being a force which they should have been this, and last world cup in sa.

roger milla.. i remember watching him playing in our league :D

about the australia-netherlands match, it was an interesting match. too bad the aussie gk is too weak, he let the 1st and 3rd goals in that easy and chickened out to rvp's shots while as a goalie he should prevent the ball at all cost including using his body or his head if needed to.

as for spain, they really out played both by the dutch and chile, even after relegated xavi and pique from the starting eleven.

now i'm waiting to see whether england could qualify from their group or not as uruguay is in the same position as them too after yesterday defeat to costa-rica :)

Shame mark Schwarzer retired, Australia looked really good going forward, cahill has been awesome, cant see uruguays ageing defence coping tomorrow, but Suarez could be in monster form :)

Nice guess. We were really poor.

God i love suarez, he carried them to victory almost single handed

Cameroon in 1990 I remember. Colombia had a cool team then too, with that goalie and Valderrama, Rincon and the unlucky Escobar.
After that tournament, many voices were saying an African country could be World Champion in 10-15 years.

But nothing has really changed, huh...
Tough teams with talented players, but they peak for 1 tournament and 4 years later they suck balls.
Ghana, promising a few years back. Probably won't survive the group.
Nigeria has talent. Can't beat Iran.
Cameroon is out.
Ivory Coast. Good team. But after yesterday, their chances are not too great.

Looks like it's gonna be a horrible WC for Africa...

How can you love player who is simulating all the time, is insidious and is acting like...

Hes good player though, but I cant like him because of it all...

I think Ivory Coast is the exception. They play with a lot of sense, and they only lost to Colombia, who will probably lead the group with 7 or 9 points. I'd be surprised if we don't see Ivory Coast in the next round - all they need is a draw against Greece, and they could even lose and go through with the right result in the other match. That 0-0 between Greece and Japan make things look very promising for Ivory Coast.

If they lose, they're out.

Imho the used to be the biggest underperformer from Africa. They had really good players with Drogba, Kalou, the Toures etc. for a while, but could never tap their full potential.

You are right, Greece has 1 point, not zero :)
Even a draw is dangerous, although Japan would have to win by 4 against Colombia to qualify in that case.
I still think they're doing well, and they would to disappoint big time to get eliminated before 1/8s.
