Lets put it this way. For some Kosovo is à country and for some not. It's about 50/50 I guess. Me or you are not to decide about that that is somewhat arrogant. Serbia does not have saying in Kosovo anymore so eventually in time even Serbia will recognize them.

Serbia does not have saying in Kosovo anymore so eventually in time even Serbia will recognize them.

Maybe in a few centuries :P I doubt not only Serbia, but also countries like Spain, will ever recognize Kosovo in the foreseeable future (for similar reasons they won't recognize Eastern Ukraine "emerging" states, and the same reasons Ukraine can't be comfortable with Kosovo, etc).

I don't know the percentage, but, just as Don Enzo also wrote, a number of countries will never accept independence of regions. One important reason for a number of these countries (China, India, countries mentioned by neuro, but there are many more) is when they do accept independence, they will have a difficult national problem with groups who are also fighting for their own independence. Another reason, ofcourse Russia (a friend of Serbia, also mentioned by neuro), will have problems with all neighboring countries who will accept the independence of Kosovo. And we all know what Russia does with disobeying neighboring countries.

you forgot Slovakia, it is in EU, so much closer than China :-) and it has nothing to do with independence, Kosovo was just huge violation of international law, that is all. And it has nothing to do with russia, Slovakia in in EU and part of EU. We just dont want support aggressors, no matter that they are from NATO.
