as for me - I live in Warsaw
quite beautiful city, although the general opinion of Polish people is that Warsaw sucks :-P
it doesn't really have the historic feel of Krakow and Gdansk, since it was destroyed during WW II...
this place now looks like this...:)
Warsaw is a mix between oldschool architecture and modern one...some decent skyscrapers in the centre:
admittedly, the centre looks far better after dark than during the day, but it's a fact about basically every centre of a big city. there's too much 'concrete' grayness, which is a result of out history and 'socialist' architecture...
I like the bulding of Warsaw University's Library, spend thousands of hours out there while I was studying:
it looks very nice inside and has decent gardens around it and at the top roof:)
the national stadium looks quite good as well:)
some more photos:
It looks better and better with every year.
Shame it doesn't have such great river surrounding as Budapest has, it would be amazing :(
although the city officials started to work on improving the surroundings [both sides of the river have become one of the main places to party at, especially the side near the city centre] but it's still at least 10 years before it will look decent...
next month I'm moving to my apartment, which will be a ~10min bus drive to the Old City, can't wait:)

in bucharest the unlucky young gypsies lives underground, in canal
In belgium they say that krakow is a cooler city to visit then warshaw :)
Yeh, Gdańsk and Krakow are better for a visit, I admit that
but for everyday living Warsaw is better, imo
especially when you consider the job market

That actually looks better than i thought. Never been to po-land for a longer trip than a drive-through. Maybe should take a trip next summer. Especially after i heard there is a place 10 mins from old city where i could crash for free.
It's decent if you get good weather during the trip, and weather in Poland is quite unstable. But I guess that you should have a similar climate in Eesti :P
It's amazing how that statue remained standing, while everything around it was destroyed...
Unfortunately later on it went down, in '44 it was shot down by a tank. It was rebuilt using the undamaged part.
the pieces of broken column have been preserved a couple metres from the Column
here you can read some info about it
quite a shame, it was built in 1644 and it was the first laic monument in Warsaw...

Hopefully I manage to travel to Warsaw next year. I have a friend from Poznan and I'd like to combine the visits of that two cities to one holiday. But it's no short way from Karlsruhe where I live. Btw: we had our 300 anniversary this year (only 300!) but it was quite good. One of the highlights was the floating house on our market place.
