He will of course get extra training when in u21's but he will only play friendlies i hope next season as we should be in the world cup :)

That's news to me? I didn't think the amount of training you received had anything to do with the age of the player. I simply thought it were related to how many mins somebody played in the type of match they played in. From what I've read (and depending who you believe), the amount of training received in a friendly seems to be anything from 70% up to 85%. Therein lies the uncertainty so better to train him with the bottom amount in mind just to make sure that he gets the full possible training imo.

Just to clear something up, I appreciate younger players train quicker. I were just pointing out that the amount of training that week were simply in relation to the actual matches and mins. So 100% training for an 18 yr old would overall get more training than 100% training for an 27 yr old say. But, you clearly want him to get the 100% possible training for that week.

i meant it matters less when he's 18 like 20 minutes is fine, i must remember to be more precise when it comes to mr pedantic ;)

You wouldn't expect anything else from Spongebob ;-)

Yes but 100% is really playing 90 minutes in both, its still about 97-8% so im told otherwise, when you get past 20 extra minutes I am to believe it's fractions - .1's, so he may train 97.9% 30 minutes and 97.4% with 20 minutes.

But yeh play them more for more training, bit more risky for injury unless in friendly game you chuck them in the bottom corner!

Remind me how many players you've trained to full NT level?

Then remind me how many players I've trained to NT level.

Interesting, you could well be right but that's not what I understand the process to be. However, it would be impossible to prove either way and to quibble over a little here or there seems a rather pointless exercise ;-) So for the sake of completeness (and because I don't want an argument), I'll take this as being what happens :-)

Arguably the benefit from playing the extra time needed for 100% is outweighed by the risk of injury. Also it is all well and good for some sides to do that, but if they don't have the coaches to support that training then there isn't really any gain.

I know how many I have managed for England and that's "basically" none ;-)

It's never black and white is it ;-)
I possibly agree, but then it really depends how long the injury is for. If he had been getting the extra training up to that point of the injury, he can sort of soak up the injury in comparison to if he were only getting friendly training and then got the injury (which is clearly the worst possible situation). I didn't explain that very well so I hope you get what I mean by that...

So for 9 years of playing the game, you've got 2.

I had 4 alone involved in the world cup winning campaign which barely scratches the surface. No U21s this season, but I did the last couple of seasons and have had players there or therebouts in most U21 seasons. As the old saying goes, you shouldn't bite the hand that feeds you as I've supported the NTs with players more than anyone else in England. I don't even need to look that up to know that is fact.
2016-03-22 16:38:08
yes i have been very unlucky where's mine game? i get brilliants and they have horrid skills not fair :( i may have let 1 or 2 defenders go when i trained striker and not defender....

However, I have been playing the game for a lot less time than the pair of you. But, given what I'm likely to do in the coming seasons I'm not sure my productivity for the NTs (full and U21s) is going to change much...

I have Balman in the U21s, does that count ;-)
