Can't see a separate thread, and this one seems to fit, so.....

Junior levels Autor: mr_gibbage

The promotion of juniors is now better regulated than it was before. Those who are promoted with a high level will end up as more complete and rounded players than they may have done in the past. The highest possible skill for a promoted will still be excellent.

This change takes place with immediate effect.

Any thoughts, people? Clearly fm will be pleased, because he has all the bad luck in the world. I'm unconvinced it's a good change, because I think it should be possible to pull a player with blistering pace and nothing else...they'd be used at under 17 level or whatever, after all (I mean, look at walcott ;)
2006-06-19 17:24:44
I think the change might impact on the quality of striker and keeper trainees. e.g. strikers mainly need striker, pace, and technique. because the skills will be more "rounded", you're less likely to get players that are high in these skills only, i would imagine.
2006-06-19 17:27:47
So you are suggesting that keepers will be better nowadays?
2006-06-19 17:30:49
worse possibly. because i am less likely to pull a player with an excellent "primary" such as striker or keeping, more likely to get players that gravitate around the average of their YP skill. I reckon.
2006-06-19 17:37:37
But, if I understand it correctly, keepers only have their YP "points" spent on three skills (pace, passing and keeping...stamina, too, I suppose) whereas outfielders have 6 skills (plus some stamina) to spend on...
2006-06-19 17:38:14
ah, in which case only strikers will be affected, unless they are treated in the same manner as keepers. it could make for an interesting transfer market :)

I think that it can only be a good thing personally. You still have the randomness as you dont know what they will be better skilled at, but you are more likely to make more money or get better trainees if they are skilled in more than one area. If people are making more money they will be able to survive and get better, this means more people staying on in the game for greater periods of time. This means that there will be better players for the NT & U-20 (when it arrives!), and also make the current leagues more competative.
