The only difference with a paying member is that they have graphs and you can see when the player popped. So they can prove talent more easily. But there are several external programmes where these graphs are also included.

The higher the coach level, the more exact the junior level determined. Also, the more matches your junior plays, the more adequately the coach knows his total skill and shows it to you

Only in the new situation it becomes harder to prove talent, because your youthcoach is estimating the players skill. First it could be solid and then good, players could visually drop in skills, while they are actually better :)

Anyone have a prospective school with the new changes? I'd be interested to know how people monitor them.

Since the new changes came in where you know the ages, i've never had more than 11 juniors in my school once i've wittled out the newcomers on Saturday. 2 reasons for this; i've never needed to keep more because they've been guff, but also my thinking is if i keep the best 11 they will all play every game and therefore have the most accurate talent estimation.

I have one decent junuior in about 20 odd. So quite why I keep more than 11 I have no idea. Probably worried about losing one extra talented player. I tend to play the 11 closest to graduation.

I've had 2 talented pretty decent MIDs - Strudwick and Knifton - since the changes, with (I think) another - Pilkington (should graduate Brilliant+1, ~3.7 talent) - on the way.

I keep:
all 16yo who could reach average to solid in the season, plus all long-term 16yo prospects.
all 17yo who could reach solid+ in the season, plus good long-term prospects.
any 18yo if they're a adequate/good GK (as I never get any decent keeper prospects).

Like ncn, I generally play my 11 closest to graduation. Then, if talent looks poor after ~6 weeks playing I bin them and replace with next player to graduate.

Interesting that you keep all long-term 16yo prospects...even ones below say weak?

I've decided age is a bit more important to me, and won't keep anyone +1 in age already unless they have 20-25+ weeks and already start on at least adequate.

My JC is Magical, yet I still get the odd 3-level fluctuation. So I always wait 5 or 6 weks to see if that Poor 16yo was really Adequate to start with, and my coach had just been on the pop again :)

You still never really can tell even after that period, but you do have an idea.

For example i was about to sack a guy who had been in my youth school for 11 weeks and had gone up one skill overall, but he's now jumped 2 weeks so suddenly could have a talent around 4 weeks.

It is very difficult to have any idea unless they've been in the school for a long period due to the constant estimation but also the guessed actual skill when joining.
