Hoping for some seriously increased sponsorship money in II for the forthcoming season! I've lost £500k in each of the last 2 seasons to try and keep my junior school going...
Any ideas how much i'll get in II, bearing in mind i'll lose most games...?

I'm probably as good a use case for your situation as any, having come from III-03 to II last season, though I suspect you have more supporters now than I did when I was promoted..
End of the III season I was receiving ~33k in weekly sponsorship. First week in II, I received ~82k, which steadily increased throughout the season, hitting ~100k near the end of this season. I suspect this steady sponsorship increase is down to better than expected performance (lowest expectations of any team in my league at start of season), happy supporters and sponsors against those low expectations, and a very large increase to supporter base, from around 800 to ~1,250 today. Adding context that I scraped into the playoffs, and lost the majority of my games over the season.
That extra 50k sounds like it should bridge most, if not all of your shortfall.
I've also poured back almost all financial takings this season into increasing stadium capacity, from 3,100 to 18,500 which now gives me far more financial security as I build other areas of infrastructure, e.g. quality coaches, higher wages from improving first team and younger trainees.

I know for sure that lower end of the prem generates a lot more money than top end of II. A lot of teams in III will have very small supporter bases but in II will be a lot more well established sides which helps boost that source of revenue up. It's the same II to Prem as each level is a distinct step up.

Thanks Gio, this is really helpful. I have 1100 supporters. Looks like i'll be able to break even this season then. Perhaps with some sales i might look to expand the stadium further also.
I imagine i have by far the worst team, and it will only get worse unless i get some veterans in.

Veterans are really just a short-term solution that will cause you problems long-term because you're losing money on them. If you can, try to aim between 24-28
it depends, going back to 3 is not an option, so veterans may be answer to establishing urself in 2
I honestly believe, and this applies to the Prem too, that you just have to learn to suffer when you promote and stick to the plan. It may take a couple of attempts to get up and actually stay up but sticking to the build is the only way to really progress.
As someone who has been through the process fairly recently (and still learning the ropes) i fully agree with the above. Obviously you wont want to get relegated instantly, but plunging funds on older players (and particularly the high wages) who can end up dropping levels and becoming worse quickly over the season isnt worth it. I like seeing the team improve and tbh my squad is slightly older than id like but you can pick up decent players in the mid 20's for decent prices. I'm probably a bit too detailed focused and work out cost/income over a week to have a rough idea of the wages im able to spend but older players that have high skills can really add up so be careful if you do go that way.
in the end its all about wages... as you can get old players for quite cheap... 24yos ure talking about, will either not be adequate enough to keep you in higher league, or will cost 6-10 times more than veteran
if im able to balance out my finances around a mix of veterans and profitable trainees, veteran plops will be covered by sold trainees and increasing sponsorship money.....
mid 20s team is a straight safe plan to get relegated as neither of us have enough funds to build a decent team that way,
you think well they will keep or increase value later, which is safe.... but you still skip the point of relegation, which is a missive hit to the club overall
im not gonna go into numbers, but 30k in 3rd league and 80k in 2nd is a huge difference.... keep in mind you may not even come back one year later, as sometimes two good teams end up in 3, and your mid 20s might not be able to cut through again

You lose money on pretty much any player once their training life ends.
Veterans filling slots where you are not training will be cheaper than younger players in those positions who are not getting training as you will lose less money on those than players 27-29. It's not always possible to have the first team as trainees only.

I agree with all of you. But i wasn't planning on buying veterans that cost any amount of money. Yes, the wages are high, but being able to train 10 players with advanced training, gives some slots to fill with untrainable players.
I may just get 2 or 3 35+yo's in, or replace the 2 i have.
My first team is as follows;
38
37
24
24
22
21
21
21
21
20
19
Obviously they are all about to age 1 year, and the 24yo's i'm also looking to sell. I really do have a very weak team! The 2 oldest players only have a max skill of outstanding, they aren't special at all and i can replace them with better
for next to £0.
It's just that balance on whether i can avoid going down automatically, and i don't think it's possible as it stands, and it might not be possible even with old players since i'm currently -£58k.

Your set up makes perfect sense and ultimately we're all in different positions so we need to do what is right for our own teams.
I just train youngsters and don't have anyone older than 23 (who is a goalie)!
I get my @ss kicked as a consequence but my aim is to train English youngsters, for the time being
