Wayner 25/10/2006

Didn't realise I first joined 2006. Staying away from watching matches as stupid poor passing decisions by the match engine infuriated me so much it was one of the main reasons I originally left.

I really can't remember. Probably about 2013 ish. I was 2nd or 3rd in Prem in my final season with about 25 million plus in bank and 5 unearthly coaches. A far cry from now where I top table in Div 3, can't afford youth team, finish 14-0 only to get beat in Qualifier every season. I sort of feel even more sorry for those behind me who have to deal with me first before even getting a Qualifier. Maybe one of reasons so many quit in Div 3.

I lost focus around that time, carried on playing with half an eye until 2016, but didn't fully kicked until 2017/18.... I didn't really get bored of Sokker, just had a hugely busy period in my life, with massive job changes, workload, 3 young kids and other family challenges, plus frankly lots of users who I used to enjoy forum banter with - e.g. Woppa, Redjim NCN etc. all leaving.

But I'm back and enjoying it oddly despite the chasm between III and II making any progress. The game needs more league depth I believe - there would be nothing bad in being able to promote up and down by more than 3 league levels - e.g. less width more depth to leagues.

Great to have you back Wayner. I missed you tactical genius at handing me my arse on a plate...Though the prem did that to me well this season.

Now we can see the matches again perhaps you should dust off the old cat and nine tails and give me a good thrashing in a few "friendlies"....

There is certainly a very large chasm between III and II and II and the prem. It is why more often than not teams that promote, relegate the following season.

It shows that your team can effectively coast to a III title, but you can be pretty certain 7th would be the best you could manage in a II and that is relying on a declining bot or a team giving up.

I'm sure at one point we had more forum activity with 20 users than there was with over 300 at one point.

Unfortunately that chasm between divisions will probably stop any new users from being long term and hence kill Sokker. It would have been healthier if sokker was a linear league format (like normal football) than the Christmas tree formation. It would take longer to get to Prem but teams in league would be more even and difference between leagues would be smaller. Obviously this would never happen as risks to upsetting current users would be high as no one will want to risk what they got, let alone the large logistics of doing this.

And yes I've been stealthily back a year. Though I was shocked at my original start date. Where did all those years go ;(

Shame, when I originally left there was barely 4 Divs. Now there are barely 3.

Agreed there are much less tams in general now sadly.
