I have 1 x 23yo as my oldest player in advanced, I see it worth having about 19 players, most of my advanced are first team starters, rest make sub appearances, then i see it as you could have 5 or 6 players aged 26-30yo that won't be trained ever in advanced, and a spare older keeper, & 2 or 3 rubbish ex juniors to field in friendlies, which you need for your young trainees
I used to sell my players aged 27-28yo, now with faster aging process due to shorter seasons 25-26 is the new 27-28, no point training players aged 26/7 takes too long what with another skill being added soon & higher skills taking longer, unless it's 1 low skill. I could not start a high skill train on a 25yo now either
i see 25yo as a player someone else might train so can't see me owning a 25yo too much, but there's always one a real great talent i'll keep training that one aged 25yo

Yeah, agree with you for most of that mate.
I've got my squad size down to 16 and think I might further lower it.
I'm trying to get rid of most my players over 24 and replace with younger. I might make a couple exceptions but ideally I want a squad full of trainable youngsters. In my opinion, there's no point wasting time and effort on older players, or at least filling your squad with them!

It's a tricky one.
I've not yet worked out what works best.
However, after a couple seasons of really poor training results, even on decent young players... who happen to fall outside of enhanced training! It just ain't working for me!

If you get 'Keegan or Warhurst ' type junior you'll need friendlies to train them, playing friendlies with too many 1st team members is a no no, it's unfortunate lady luck has not shined on your juniors for ages
But i see what you mean your team will peak all together but you'll have much to do in the TM at the other end!
I like having one from each year in each position ,this is what i have atm
Defenders ages 26,25,23,19 [Keegan]
Mids 24,22,22,21,20 [Warhurst]
Strikers 25 [selling tomorrow] 23, 22, 21

But I always play/played reserves players (youngsters) in my friendlies but as they were outside advanced training, their progress was painfully slow. As an example, I promoted an outstanding 17 yo who just never seemed to pop. Likewise for a 18 brilliant, their progress is far too slow despite playing them every week!
I have recently promoted a 19 magical goalie and I'm wondering if there's any point training him, unless I select him for AT!?
I think my squad is starting to take shape and I've got a decent amount of youngsters that are still very trainable. My squad size is currently 16 but I'll look to sell one or possibly two players in the coming weeks!

Which means to me you killed many of your juniors, or were they all bad to start with?

4 pops. Tad on low side this week despite removing a couple of 26yos from training positions.

5 pops this week, with 2 in their actual position. Not too bad considering my squad is quite small these days. Still a little frustrated with a couple of players slow development!

My juniors have been held back in terms of their development. I can't get them into an advanced training position. Hence the reason I've massively down-sized my squad. It's currently 15 and I've just popped a young (promising) keeper up for sale!

Then why do you keep them, that's throwing money away no?
