Asunto: Season 63

I know what you mean. Season after season I tell myself I will start building a squad based on my own juniors. Season after season I'm left disappointed by the quality of the juniors and end up buying instead. No doubt things are going to be the same this season coming. Already brought in two young players (for around 250k) that are much better than anything my academy would give me (and I spend more than 400k a season for it). This juniors thing is probably a waste of money over many seasons. I haven't really kept track of its finances but overall I reckon I've spent twice as much as I got back from the academy. It's hard to tell as a few players are still in my squad and at least two of them would probably balance the figures if I'd sell them right now. I must admit it gave me a much needed boost when I started as one of the juniors went for £1.4m, money much needed back then when I had no stadium and just a typical starter squad. Plus, the transfer market wasn't as Saudi as it is now. So, I'm going to end up contradicting myself at the end of this post: junior academies are good assets to have :)))
For the balance: Income from the academy (this seson): 150k

I may have been lucky but I now have 5 trainees of my 10 from my own YS.....granted I did buy Miller back but I raised him to triple super divine.
I've got 8 of my own youth products. Only 1 is a first team sure fire starter. One will be in near future no 1 GK (he's getting game time ATM due to my better GK being in rubbish form, although I'll likely ship the better one out soon). Possibly 2-3 others will long term be first teamers. So not too bad.
I need to bring some younger trainees in soon. I am thinking of keeping a couple of the older ones though…..just to play. I am hoping to buy a new striker that’s younger than Miller or my Turkish guy…..the latter is being sold now.
These discussions are very interesting. Don't really have much to add though. I think I have done ok with training my own players. I seem to have someone good from my own academy every other year and sometimes I know I am training a squad player but thats ok if they are homegrown.
I find the transfer market and coach select a really terrible lucky dip experience and worse than the lottery. I wish those were improved and why we cannot train 11 players is particularly annoying. I used to sell my own players at around 27 but now I cannot be bothered and will end up keeping them their whole careers so not sure how that will look in the junior stats.

Btw. you guys can get a top level English trainee if you want and can afford one, if talented he is a future guaranteed u21 & senior NT regular
Les Singh [39016983]
from what I see he is in the top 3 best 16yo midfielders this season in whole sokker. So far there wasn't one with this/higher sumskill (27) but it's possible that a 16 in earlier weeks can have a higher ss already (Flavius Şuşoi had sumskill 26 three weeks ago)

Save your money, wdp. I've got allocated one junior this morning. Only one, the one and only! He's 17, hopeless and has 18 weeks of training. He's going to be the future of U21 and senior NT alltogether, playing for both at the same time AND in the same time!
Of course you're bidding on him :P
I SAW HIM FIRST!!!!
Well done borkos, as if it's not hard enough for small budget teams like me.

I can give you an advice of our former president, when asked in front of the cameras by one guy about what he will to do help with his poor economic situation so people like him can afford to buy a house
"change your job and take a loan" :P

I can give you a better advice: tell your former president to do one. Most people following his advice would fail and the problem he was 'solving' would be even bigger. No wonder he is a 'former' president. Then again, he was voted in by some.
And talking about sumskill: your 'former' president told you that sumskill is the sign of a good player? Because is just as baloney as the loan story. I see why you voted for the guy.
By the way, we've got a few bridges to sell over here....

I bid all the way to £5.6m and then pulled out, stupid price.

I sold a 16 year old with an impressive 'sumskill' (even better, his value was 43k) for good money at the time. But showed nothing really in the academy, no pops. I followed his development. The academy progress was right, he never made it (3 seasons later his value is 51k). I'm afraid it's a similar case.
You saved yourself a fortune.

In a way I hope you’re right, but for England it would be nice if he was a super talented player.
The price just kept going up and up….I almost pulled out at £4m tbh.

One thing is certain: Barstable sells very well. I could ask for a tip or two.
