Asunto: Season 66

I switched real football for sokker at HT Everton - Liverpool. Only to watch the same game lol. Possesion, play in the opposition half but without anything to show for it. Conceding from every counter attack instead. I refuse to get frustrated though. I reserve my frustration for the real football. And I've got a lot of it after tonight.

shots on target Everton 6 (2) - (0) 7 Liverpool

Same in my sokker game. It's not the shots I am frustrated about, it's the fact that keeping the ball and passing it around without any result is not what football is all about. That "heavy metal" football was all about being direct, attacking and scoring goals. Last night was just R&B. It was, in fact, your team doing the "heavy metal".

I didn't think you looked particularly threatening last night, Salah certainly looks like he's struggling for form. I would think your chance for the title look quite slim now, its still not over though. However City if they win their 2 games in hand will be heavy favs. Plus Arsenal GD is like an extra point.

I watched yesterday's match and I can say that Everton deservedly won. Despite Liverpool having more possession, Everton had better goal-scoring opportunities.

Everton are not a bad side, they also always raise themselves for the derby matches.

They broke the curse of losing derby matches at Goodison Park yesterday. The last victory happened 14 years ago.

There is no such thing as "curse", that's just talksport rubbish that goes well in London. But I wouldn't expect anything else from you, Piotr.
Everton are really underperforming at every level within the club. Which is a shame. Because whatever talksport pundits tell you, the rivalry between Everton and Liverpool is not toxic. The city wants both clubs to do well. And Everton shouldn't be in the situation they find themselves now. The have a great fan base, a good squad and a lot of history behind them. Unfortunatelly, this is been tarnished by owners. They're like a water private company of football.
The issue is that there are a lot of other English football clubs in the same situation, running on debt. Their problems are kept under the carpet by FA hoping that they will just disappear.

I find it hard to understand how the Liverpool players struggle to find the motivation needed to win a game. They're in with a chance to win the title. If that's not motivating enough...

I stopped watching at half-time. The goal conceded was too much for me. The lack of focus the players showed when the ball bounced from them was frustrating. I am a long lover of football and I have been through everything because of that. Including the misery of watching your favourite team losing at the end of a hard fought game. But last night was different. I felt they don't deserve my support, they were too indolent. I used to feel sorry for the Man U fans having to put up with this sort of attitude from their players. Liverpool was always the opposite of this, always fighting hard and coming on top even under the most difficult of the circumstances (Istanbul, Barcelona 4-0, West Ham FA Cup final, etc). Even when they were the classic underdog for 30 years, they would still bring some glory back to Anfield through hard work. Last night (and the last few games) they didn't represent the Liverpool I love.

Once they get their new stadium I am sure they will be fine. They had a fantastic history in the 80's, them and Liverpool were the best teams for a decade, I will always remember the 85/86 season when West Ham run them both until the last week of the season and we had Cottee and McAvennie with over 20 goals each. I was 11/12 yrs old at the time but it was such a great memory.

There are some huge clubs that aren't in the Prem at the moment, so at least Everton have still never relegated.

Rumour has it that there are more problems than we are told.

But, once again, at least for the sake of my Evertonian mates (they're are the source of rumours) I really hope they will be fine and back to mischief at the top of the league. Because if the rumours are true, it might be a loooong way back for them.

I agree with you that something is off with Liverpool. There's no spark in the players' eyes. They look like they're tired of their presence. Maybe Klopp's departure has negatively affected them? When a new coach comes, maybe the fight for positions on the field will start anew. I'm not sure if informing players about leaving the club earlier is a positive phenomenon.

I believe Klopp did the same at Dortmund too? I wish that West Ham would announce what's happening with Moyes as thats having a negative effect. Sarah imo looks very short of form, and maybe if they get offered 150m again from Saudi they will accept....I certainly would as thats crazy money for a 31 yr old!

@jensenella I thought the takeover was due soon and then the debt would be all sorted?

Aye, poor players, I bet they're crying in their sleep.

On the contrary, the manager goes, let's play for him and give him a title as a leaving present.
2024-04-25 12:10:02
I think Klopp is very popular with the players. Every Liverpool fan I know are devastated he's leaving.
2024-04-25 12:15:22
Now, THAT is the real problem. Players think more of their future after Klopp's departure, hence the lack of focus. They let the club down because they worry where the millions are going to come from.

Lazio won the title with a squad that hasn't been paid half of the season, the club was going bankrupt. Cragnotti, the owner was in jail and the sale of Nesta was the only income that saved them. But they had a squad of proper characters: Simeone, Mihajlovic, S.Conceicao, Mancini, Veron, Stankovic. They went on to win the Cup as well and a European Cup too. Job done and then they went away. Proper pros.
