Asunto: Season 66

Now, THAT is the real problem. Players think more of their future after Klopp's departure, hence the lack of focus. They let the club down because they worry where the millions are going to come from.

Lazio won the title with a squad that hasn't been paid half of the season, the club was going bankrupt. Cragnotti, the owner was in jail and the sale of Nesta was the only income that saved them. But they had a squad of proper characters: Simeone, Mihajlovic, S.Conceicao, Mancini, Veron, Stankovic. They went on to win the Cup as well and a European Cup too. Job done and then they went away. Proper pros.

I wasn't aware of that, thats pretty incredible.

It sounds incredible mostly because it's made up, that's not how it went.

Cragnotti was investing HUGE amounts of money buying top talent and indeed they did win the Scudetto in 1999/2000 season. But that was not "with a squad that was not paid for half of season" or with "owner in jail". That was peak spending Lazio, which even the season AFTER the Scudetto spent over 100m euro on transfers [and in these years it was crazy money]. They bought Crespo, Peruzzi, Diego Lopes among many others. Next year they spent even more, over 140m euro on the likes of Mendieta & Stam.

And that's pretty much when the bubble burst, Cragnotti's company Cirio went under and it brought Lazio down with him.
Cragnotti himself indeed went to prison, but that was long after the 99/00 Scudetto and after he was forced to step down from being Lazio's president.

The real story is pretty much this: Lazio won a Scudetto because they spent much more money than they actually had and ended up with amazing debt.

Leedzio, but with actually winning something.

A very "popular" story among clubs in Italy at that time, around 2001-2004 when the authorities started to check their financials and found out their "creative accounting". Happened also to Parma, Napoli, Fiorentina, Torino.

Ok that's curious. Beat Anfield and lose points, lose to COGB and stay exactly where I am.

99/00 season Lazio spent 48m euros and sold 46m euros. Inter: 150m euros, Milan: 72m, Parma: 68m, Roma: 53m euros, Juve: 43m.

Note: Lazio snatched the title from Juventus in the last day of the season. Some Juve fans are still crying inside their garages.

Before the lamp starts blowing smoke again, I'd like to remind everyone that my point was about me being upset because the players forgot to represent the club and their fans.
At no point I intended to hurt the feelings of Juve supporters, still affected by the loss of money they poured into referees that season and so many other seasons before and after that season.

Update on Everton: I'm hearing Everton fans are getting together some sort of movement to take on FA and Premier League. I really hope they do. There might be some Liverpool fans not agreeing with this but most of them will be behind this movement. In moments like this, Liverpool red and blue unite. There's nothing more uplifting for the scousers than a fight against the establishment and this would be one that I fully support.
Come on, Everton!

Why are they taking on the FA and Premier League?
