3-3 against probably best team in my league. I started messing with the tactic and I think I made it worse :(
Won tonight 7-0, still only 3 points clear of Man Utd so must keep winning……
My player received a red card and we lost 1-0 to the league leader. Up until that moment, we were definitely the better team.

Lopetegui is going to take over WHU.
Good? Bad?
Judging by what I've seen against Chelsea, the players seem to have had enough of Moyes. Good chances at the start of the game, if Bowen scored I reckon the result would've been different. But after they conceded, it didn't look like they have enough fire in them to fight back. End of season factor, too, I agree.

Lopetegui is a good manager but also a dick. He won't last 2 seasons because he'll quit and go somewhere else. This is the guy who was in charge of Spain before the 2018 World Cup and got sacked because he was stupidly arranging to take over at Real.

I must admit I don't know much about him. On the other hand, that says a lot. So, in my opinion, I don't think it's a step forward for WHU. I would've liked to see them going for someone who's playing modern football, like DeZerbi.

I am not going to lie and say he was my first choice as that would have been Amorim, however we need to move on from Moyes. The club wants to follow a Technical Director and Head Coach European model and Moyes is an old fashioned manager......he and Steiden clashed over signings etc.
Our style of football is horrible, we sit in our area, concede all the possession and chances and then wonder why we spend money on strikers who struggle......they never have support. It happened with Haller and then Scamacca with both succeeding before and after us!
I thanks Moyes for the trophy but it was definitely time to move on imo, and I wish he had gone last summer. As for Lopetegui I know he plays possession based football and I am excited to see Kudus, Bowen and a striker play under him with a team set higher and more possession and chances. We DO need some new defenders though as it's too old and slow.......by the way thats the failure of Moyes as we had the oldest starting 11 in the Prem.
I also noticed that while at Everton he started strong and faded at the end of seasons....thats because his teams literally have to chase the ball 65% of the game.
In addition we won 4 in 23 games in 2024.....and spent most of last season if you go back 38 league games each time at less than a point per game.....the trophy saved him then!
Overall though I am grateful for what he achieved and always will be, I just did not enjoy the majority of his league performances, mainly because if you lose while conceding 65% possession or more to feels like an utter battering each time.

Moyes is one of my least "liked" coaches in the league right now based on the approach to the games and you can see how much a good manager can rapidly change the quality of play at a team by comparing Hodgson's and Glasner's Crystal Palace. I'm not even talking about results, but the way they play has changed massively and in a very good direction. Mateta went into beast mode, Eze & Olise light up the spectacle, Wharton looks terrific with his ball progression and technical quality, Munoz seems great as well. Even Clyne seems much better as a right centre back who joins the attacks and fills the space behind Munoz.
It is incredible though how often Moyes' tactics worked even when West Ham seemed totally dominated. Four games with lowest (and very, very low at that) possession - 4 wins.
27% Arsenal - 2:0
26% Tottenham - 2:1
25% Chelsea - 3:1
22% Brighton - 3:1
On the other hand while Brighton is often (at least when they're not crushed by injuries) very nice to watch and loves to have the ball, they often struggle to turn the possession into goals.
They had 6 games with over 70% of possession and only won... once, against Sheffield, which is hard not to beat.
71% Fulham - 1:1
72% Wolves - 0:0
72% Burnley - 1:1
78% West Ham - 1:3
79% Sheffield - 5:0
79% Everton - 1:1
The Everton games is particularly fascinating. 79% possession, 992 touches of the ball, 914 passes.
At the same time they were 7:10 in shots, 2:4 in shots on target and only 0.5 expected goals.

Funily enough I have Crystal Palace friends and we were saying the same thing when they had Hogson still, Moyes and Hodgson are old school tactics....a bit like Mourinho. Football has moved on though, while they haven't .
Also the matches you mentioned I agree, we were so lucky to win some games this season and thats been down to brilliance up top, without those wins we would have struggled and then there would have been a totally different opinion by outside fans on Moyes......but a lot don't even watch the games and base opinions on the results only or the highlights which show just the goals.
I am genuinely excited to see the likes of Bowen and Kudus in a team that plays more progressive football!
Palace right now are playing fantastic football, and funnily enough my Palace friends pointed out exactly the same as you, and even down to Wharton being fantastic in midfield!

Wharton is indeed the one that stands out for me too. Probably the key of their new improved play. He played for Blackburn and mates of mine, Rovers fans have been telling me he is Premier League class. I root for Burnley here so I wasn't quite a believer lol. But now I have to admit to them that they were right about him. Against Liverpool he was the MOTM in my opinion.

I haven't seen him play personally but if fans say that, usually they are in a good position to judge. I used to say the same about Rice when Arsenal fans said he wasn't worth £50m .....now not one says £105m was a lot.

I read record signing in 1993 from Forest Roy Keane's 3.7 million [beating Shearers 3.6m] in today's money would be 118 million
