Asunto: U-20 Top 40

2024-08-07 22:04:13
It's not a huge amount of work because it's mostly all done, it's just a matter of ordering it.
What I don't want to do is put out too much because it's easy to confuse with too many databases. I need to work out some kind of structure so that it's easy to get a good overview of whatever you're looking for. Before I was on an enforced break I was putting together squads for U-20 through to U18, I'll probably go back to that once I'm happy that the database is complete.

Ok so this isn't definitive by any stretch. This is based purely on the U-19s and on their ratings, not their skills (which I can't see). This is the structure I'd be using if I was U-21 manager though. 2 keepers, 10 defenders, 10 mids and 6 strikers for a squad of 28. Then you use the other 12 spots for the younger talent.

Camus para Camus
Spent ages putting a database together and Mikoos changes his site to do what I actually needed in the first place. Database is still useful because it provides me with a bigger picture I can track, but this is annoying.

It would be better to actually know the skills & based on them create a real database, then add new youths & track progress. Maybe you could become a scout of England NT?

To be honest if I were u21 NT coach that's what I would do, especially since it's easier now - you can see the skills as NT coach, you don't need to write to everyone. Creating such database would be a matter of 1-2 afternoons.

Rating-based or value based DBs are close to nothing but a curiosity unfortunately....

Absolutely, but as far as I'm aware there is no official scounting position in this game that would allow me access to skills. This site just makes it easier for me to collect data on ratings and for everyone else quick access to see where a player is.

Yeah, there's no such thing unfortunately, only way would be creating a list & then u21/NT coach sending you the skills of the players you want to see

That's what I was doing but I don't think it's an effective use of the U21/NT coach's time. I don't need to see the skills as long as the coaches have an idea where to look.

I'm going to do these position by position because it's difficult for any system to show the real picture.

Keepers

Obviously we have more keepers than this (49) and I was going to post the Top 10, but that would actually cut out our 2 best prospects.
The U-20 keepers that we'll be using next season are not great but they're far clear of everyone else. Where it gets interesting is after that. We've got Duffy, Derry, Ledson and Davies at 19 but it might be worth overlooking them and going with Joe Spur (17) and or Reid/Dickens (18) depending on where we are in the World Cup cycle.
Overview
We're screwed next season unless Hackett and Doughty improve. After that we're golden.

Huge prospect
David van Nistelrooy

But Van Nistelrooy...come on man. Which Man U fan is giving these English players their names. I've seen Beckhams have become more common than Smith!

Great propsect, I'll try and buy him :)

PS thanks for the heads up Camus. You're doing a sterling job! It is appreciated. Thank you.

Yes, these names annoy me and there's a lot of them. Some are great though, there's a player called Barman Cheese.

Haha... true, there are a few that make you laugh!!

If i was training mids i might of taken him on, he came out the junior school last week so hopefully can make up for some of the dross ive had over the last season out of the school ! (although an english Van Nistelrooy doesnt sit right with me) and he has more chance of developing to full potential if i pass him onto an older head :)
