Stamina? Maybe Camus thought about pace?

Still in checking talent of players. If someone didn’t pop after two trainings from 4 to 5 in pace are sell or fired if not sold

I get £198,000 roughly but that’s at the top. My costs will be a lot more than teams in 3 and I’d think in 2 as well. Although I reckon Rockbottom are geared for the Prem cost wise.

The main benefit of going to II is being able to train all trainees to at least 96% each week without having to worry about compromising results. I'd never have got away with playing my 16yo in a league game in the prem and win the thing for the full 90 mins!

However, the reduced revenue hurts a lot. Lower gates, lower sponsorship revenue and fan club numbers have taken a hammering. In the prem I'd make a surplus but expecting a loss overall this season. I kept on most of my oldies though but their days of usefulness are numbered.

I sold my oldies soon as I relegated, some even before the end of season, when the relegation started to become inevitable. You're losing a lot of money by keeping them. They will be a year older by the time you go back up. By getting rid of them, I managed to have quite a few good financial seasons in Division 2. I will do the same this time around, Macleod is already out for sale.

That makes sense and something I may have to do sooner or later as I rebuild.

My fans are weird, but 1% of them need to be locked away.

I have a 32 and 31yo striker who are first teamers, then a 33 33 and 36 yo who are losing minimal value as they peaked some time back now, and none of the 3 oldest ones are sure fired first teamers. Probably 500k ish value in the 3 oldest ones.

The strikers the 32yo cost me a fair wedge and is still highly skilled. The 31yo cost nothing as is an own youth product so a bit more of an attachment to that one. My 25yo striker (still being trained) is not far behind, the other trainees are so just need to keep them going a bit longer.

I do have a very young bunch of trainees in advanced training slots. There is 1 25yo (who will move out of there next season), 1 24yo the rest are 16 19 19 19 20 21 22 22 and bar the 1 25yo all own junior products.

It depends what your plan is. I gladly spent some time in Division 2 to rebuild my squad after making a mess of it in a few seasons in Premier. I would've spent more time but I was literally push out of there. I regret promoting now, I have had a nice batch of juniors coming through and I ended up selling them. Looking at Shea Barnes now and thinking I should've stayed in Division 2 for a bit longer. Premier is not the right league if you want to build a new young squad. The proof is in the number of old players being brought in by clubs already after only 10 rounds. I know people are telling me this is the way, but I'd rather not follow it.

My plan is to go the Elmstead way, at least temporarily and just see what I can do with a home grown team. It was never really feasible in the past to have an entirely home grown one as could never train enough variety in the players to make it sustainable. This will likely mean a bit of yo yoing between II and the prem.

There should be parachute payments for div 2 ;)
2024-10-26 12:54:24
There should be! I guess that you get a financial boost by off loading players that are way above that league.

But yeah, Elmstead model is super, I already said I am a big fan of his work and I'd love to do the same. I guess it's slow progress but at least it gives you something to enjoy about this game.

I currently have six players from my junior school, including nine English players. I'm not a fan of dropping down in the league, as it's too dull. To balance training with results, I’ve brought in a few experienced players to stabilize my team's potential. These older players no longer need core training, so I’m focusing on training ten young players. Over time, these young players will take the place of the older ones, allowing me to train the next group of ten.

I think we all have our ways to enjoy this game but there always other challenges I suppose

Yeah, having a homegrown team would be nice, unfortunately you need luck to get someone decent from youth school...

I wouldn't have who to play/train if I relied on my ys, my only decent youths that are now 29 and younger:

GK: 2 (18yo, 24 yo)
DEF: 0
MID: 2 (17yo, 22yo)
ATT: 2 (one 20yo and other 26yo)

so just 4 outfield players with a huge age gap. The rest was terrible, most of other youths were barely sold.

Already done the luck part (had multiple high level 18yos last season, plus some semi decent other players beforehand), I don't expect more going forward so it might be 1 generation only that is home grown only.
