Asunto: Camus' Camp Young Boys Club (U-21 Manager)

Ok, so it wasn't my plan to take on the U-21's just yet but here we are. With Nothis stepping down and the World Cup only a few weeks away, we need someone who can quickly setup and hit the ground running. As I've been working with him all season I'm probably the person best placed to take that role.

So what's the plan then? What are the aims?

Well it's mostly what I've already been doing, but on steroids. There are 8 things I want to accomplish

1. Get out of the World Cup group.
It seems like a while since we've done this and honestly this will be the biggest challenge of the season. At this moment we don't know the group draw and I don't fully know the players, I think we're maybe a little weaker than last season but with more strength in depth. If I'm honest, I'm not hugely optimistic about this World Cup. The next World Cup will be another matter because I think we've a very strong team coming through in the current 19's and 18's.

2. Mapping Sokker England
What I've been doing with The Daily Transfer Show? Apply that to every player we have 21 and under. Day 1 my plan is to identify every player of potential that we have and list them. This will also form part of the scouting overhaul for getting the U-21 team together. It's going to be an extremely busy few days.

3.Scouting Services
You want a decent U-21 midfielder prospect to train? I can help with that. I can't guarantee that the club will sell but I can point you in their direction.

4. U-20 & U-19 Games
Did you see Nothis play U-20's and U-19's this season? There was a reason. We want our special players established early on, we wanted to send a signal to their managers of their importance and we wanted "National Team Member" stamped on their foreheads. Added bonus, this will earn you all some extra money if they sell because people pay extra. It also secures these players against being botted.

5. The Guest Manager
Audience participation. We have a tool that allows the transfer of tactics, so I'm open to allowing one of you to create a formation for Guest Manager Week. I promise I won't set you up against Poland.

6. Helping The New Clubs
This one is a little trickier than when I first envisaged it. The idea is that because I can see the players, I can immediatly go into new clubs and help them ID their players. This was made more difficult when Nothis informed me that the U-21 manager can only see players 21 and under, which is logical I suppose.

7. Ranking Up
This is something we need to fix, and it's probably going to take a few seasons to sort out. We need to climb in the rankings. We rank badly, so get we get bad draws, so we keep ranking badly. It's cyclical. We need to get to 16th and I think we can do it, simply by being smart and targetting the right teams.

8. Setup for next season.
I'm taking on this job a season earlier than I'd planned. I've no idea whether I still intend to carry on for that World Cup, see how it goes, but I want us in the strongest position possible for whoever is in charge because I think we've got a shot at that World Cup. Ultimately I think that is the big overriding goal of all what's above.

9. The Association
I was somewhat reluctant on this because my concern is of splitting the community down Plus lines, but I'm informed that you don't need Plus to join the official associations.
There are certain things that I'd like to discuss with you guys that I think are done better in private, mainly tactics but also the scouting service, issues with players etc. It's an optional extra, business will continue as usual on these forums, but I like the option.

The pot seedings for the World Cup are... interesting. It was such a weird season that you've got big and small nations all over the place. Potentially we could end up being the strongest team in our group despite being in the weakest seeds. Or we could get an absolute nightmare.

I'm not sure when the draw is, it might be next Sunday. I believe these are the seedings. The U-21's are very changeable from season to season but from what I've seen, Red we want to avoid, Yellow are acceptable.

Worst Draw - Switzerland, Poland, Bulgaria
Best Draw - Czech Republic, Australia, Austria

Hellas is best draw option in poot 1, ceska is red nation

I was looking at that pot and thinking that we definitely don't want Turkey or Romania because of their big userbase. I think Switzerland and Suomi are the other 2 to avoid.

As for the teams in Yellow, I need to look at them in more detail. I keep seeing Hellas doing well though in both the NT and U-21s.
Of course the thing about the U-21's is that it's a new team every season so you're never really sure who's going to turn up.

Yes but czech is a outsider to taking it all. Very strong community still.

They seem very solid but unspectacular, I rate their manager very highly though. I have started some scouting work in the Private Place but I'm waiting until the elections are over before I start properly looking at anyone.

Bleh, the election end has been put back 1 day. A bit less time to get everything in order.

Database has been tidied up, all new players linked, skills scrubbed clean for the big updatening on Monday. 141 U-21's, 125 U-20's, 133 U-19's, 46 U-18's and 25 U-17's. I've got 3 days to get them all typed up before the Thursday update,

Argentina, Turkey and Colombia. That's not a good draw, at all.

1st place not good either

Anything is possible because the range of players is much tighter at U-21, but that's a tough draw.
I'll be extremely pleased if we can get 4 points, but even that's a big ask.
