Asunto: Season 69

Lost 3-1, absolutely killed by having just 3 defenders. My defenders I did have were also dropped in form and their strikers weren't able to be tackled apparently. The best team won.

You hung in there for a while but they did you with that rapidly moving offside trap.

Yes the offside worked well, however losing Miller hurt me early this week and then losing 2 of my best defenders also killed me. I had 2 midfielders trying to tackle probably triple divine strikers. I did what I could and luck wasn't on my side this week. I lost 3 players and he lost none.......

It's a shame you didn't let this league match go.... I wonder what the result would have been today with a normal defence.

You missed a trick with Butler. When he switched onto the left, he had Pickles helping and together they actually managed to move with the ball behind the offside line a few times. Otherwise he was too isolated and away from creating real danger.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing, like you said. You deserve a lot of credit for a unique performance for the English sokker. Congratulations!

Yes it's a shame, with Miller up front and 2 of my better defenders missing it really hurt my chances. I do believe that it badly affected the team balance.

The tactic switched him to the left and slightly moved the full back wider. What actually hurt me a lot was Butler dropping 3 form levels this morning as he just didn't skip past many challenges unlike the opposition forwards all in super divine form. It just wasn't meant to be, believe in luck and fate and I am happy I got there, but having seen the results of the opposition they simply were written in the stars as winners. I lost 3 levels of form in my central defender, winger and even striker.....3 main positions unfortunately.

I think it's time you guys drop this "if you". Outbreakers are a very good team, maybe those 3 players would've not changed the outcome as much as you think. I think it's time to give wdp some credit for getting into the final and don't make it sound like you would've done better. Because, like I said, after watching the game, it doesn't seem that there was too much room for better. The players coming in played at 70+ rating.
In my opinion, wdp already achieved beyond 'better'. I'd say he did even beyond his best.
Try to congratulate him. He deserves it.

Thanks for the kind words Jenson, the players rated 70+ but they weren't defenders. Scholes and Gazza were excellent and formidable in defending only. ;)

Due to the early kick off I had no time to get any reinforcements in, with Miller I managed from Monday to get a new striker in at least.

I am happy I got this far, and the other teams tactic was strong so they deservedly won imo. Whether the defenders would have made a difference is irrelevant now I guess. :)

A few seasons ago you were knocked out by teams from lower leagues. Look at it from this angle. You would've given anything to be in the final a few weeks ago. You lost a game but you achieved a lot. And you have something to aim for now that you've done it and you know it's possible.

On the other hand, give those players a well deserved break tomorrow :)))

PS: I'm sure Eder is tired too :P

haha thanks and you are right I really did not expect to get past round 2 or 3 tbh. As for tomorrow I think it will be a tight game, I have trainees playing but a mixture of both. :)

I am just hoping for no injuries again tbh.....it's been a rough week already with 2, one of them being a trainee and England NT player.

Yes... congratulations for second place because it's a very good result! It is now my goal to win some medal in CC. Maybe in 2-3 seasons I will start this plan :P

You've still got next season where you should be at a high enough level to compete in it at least!

I really don't understand why domestic cards count in a continental competition - should be treated separately.

That’s true, I need to make a couple of signings though…..and finances aren’t as good as they used to be. ;)
