I swore when Turnbull botched that clearance and they scored. And obviously I cussed Benson out for the first 10 minutes but he was solid after that.

I was thinking the same, then I looked at their No.9 and realised at nearly 700k value he was an absolute monster compared to Benson! Yes that botched clearance was a killer unfortunately, however it's still alive, win your game and then we hope for a Germany win and you get a deserved qualification. If you don't I stand by every word I have said......you should continue. You have done a great job and the squad will only get better due to your efforts. :)

Benson wouldn't have played if Dickins was available. It was meant to be Burn but I needed him to replace Agbonlahor instead.

The formation basically worked exactly how it was meant to. We needed width but I couldn't commit the numbers because of what Germany could potentially do with their defensive line. Walker and Jansen did an excellent job in that hybrid role while Lambert got crowded out.

Have to hope for that German win next week. Any win as long as Lietuva lose will be enough thanks to superior GD.

I have to imagine that Germany will win that game. It was 7-0 last time and Lietuva haven't improved.

As per the discussion earlier in the week though, one day you can run rampant and win 7-0, the next time you lose 1-0 with same lineup, form etc etc. You can never bank on any result in this game!

Yep, the random can do strange things. All it would take is a red card to the Germany defence and then it becomes a game. Lietuva wouldn't have won against Nigeria today if it wasn't for a bloody penalty.

Next weekend is the last game for this bunch of 21 year olds, after that they'll be cleared out for the Ireland game. I've got a fairly decent idea of the squad for next season and might start finalising it this week.
The general overview is that we've got a very good defence and keeper for next season. We're a little thin on strikers because most of the talent is currently 19. The midfield, as always, is a problem and I might have to fatten it up with a defender or two in the same way I've used Keown.

Camus, my midfielder is going to move up to defense, what do you prefer next?

So, as of right now and barring an absolute disaster this weekend I'm intending to continue with the U-21 job.

We may still qualify for the World Cup but regardless of what happens there, I find it extremely difficult accepting failure and have spent the last few weeks trying to shake off the feeling of "Not good enough" and looking at this as more of a long-term project instead of looking purely at this season.
If I look long-term, we are heading in the right direction. Systems are in place, no player escapes the net, the community is relatively active and players are coming through. The squad for next season is basically set and will be changed over after the game against Bolivia this weekend.
Probably most important is that we're into the Top 32 and look like staying there. That should make future qualification much easier. I always sense that there's more that can be done but right now I'm out of ideas.

Elections start this Saturday I think and incase I forget, voting doesn't happen on this forum. It's on the pages of the 2 national teams.

great job Camus, you are the right person for this role, I am convinced that with a bit of luck you will go to the world cup, and if it should not happen it is ok anyway, the work you do is enormous, and it will reward you, good luck on Saturday. yes, you can only vote on the national team page, and the elections will last only one week.

I only say that because after the elections last time a few people said they didn't see a place to vote on here, and obviously that's because the vote doesn't happen here.
