What is new, really?

Gibby - I am not certain how to campaign for non-NT globally. Are you suggesting I post in national forums that I also refuse to run for their NT coaches? I'm not sure local Mods would appreciate that campaign strategy.
I have commenced my campaign. I suspect I will have equally magnificent success not winning NT coach in the UK as I have had here. Begin the festival!

By the way, I encourage all of you to find my UK thread and extol my lack of virtue to run their team therein and thereon.

Jon,
Given the fact that this is only my 4th season in sokker, and given the fact that I have spent the last 2 years struggling in the bottom of b-league, and furthermore, given the fact that I have displayed my utter lack of creativity by naming my team after my first name, wouldn't you agree that I am more qualified than you to not be the NT coach?

No. While in a vacuum, I would agree that you are a decent sloppy seconds choice not to coach the NT. However, the evidence of my utter ineptitude is not disputable. I have one of the youngest teams in the game, with one of the top values of those players. The talent on my roster is good enough to get me a Top three basically every season without me knowing anything about tactics (I don't do more than reverse my asymmetrical formation randomly every week for the last 4 years, not seasons, but years). If I was able to scout competently and design ANY tactic, there is no way I'd lose to some of the hacks that beat me each season with lesser talent on the pitch. To lose with better players clearly takes a greater complete lack of ability than you have evinced to date by losing with lesser players.
Your losses and lack of ultimate success are related to mediocre players and questionable coaching. What possible reason can MY superior squad's lack of a title be other than MY incompetence?
Hah.
PS Speaking of losing, the only person that doesn't win some and lose some is Chuck Norris. He wins everything, even when he doesn't bother to show up to compete.

Hmmm...you do make a good point there. However, looking at your comments in the past may present a different picture. You conveniently stack the cards against yourself, but when you look at the following comments, it portrays a talented manager who has managed four 3rd place finishes and one 2nd place finish in the Major League. Also, interesting, you only took 2 seasons to promote to a-league (already I am doing worse than you) and only 3 seasons to promote to Major League. You also said that "The talent on my roster is good enough to get me a Top three basically every season without me knowing anything about tactics " and that is exactly what you have done for 5 out of the last 6 seasons in ML. So you are accomplishing what your team is capable of based on their talent. I would say that your rapid rise to the Major Leagues says more about your ability as a manager than your ability to beat Dag or Slammmy does. Even Chelsea & Arsenal aren't able to beat Manchester United every season even though they both have excellent managers (and in Chelsea's case, more than enough cash to buy talented players).

Played with basically 1/2 of my team, won easily, and my supporters still aren't recovered from last week's injury/red-card addled thumping.
Shows that you can win without half of your starters. Also shows that your losses can be attributed to extraordinary circumstances such as excessive injuries or red cards.

Well, well. Missing my best mid AND without a striker better than formidable, and I still manage a tie. Shocking how bad my team is.
This is an amazing statement because even lowly Jason FC in b-league has 2 strikers with better than formidable striking skill. The fact that you managed a draw shows how great a manager you are.

You are kidding, right? I already said in the first few weeks I tossed in the towel this season, and proceeded to sell all of my good players to get younger and try to win next season. I don't even have a striker, and haven't in a month.
Seriously? You are that deluded, thinking that I cared about beating you without having ONE forward on my team? If I cared, I'd have taken the $10m I have in the bank right now and bought a 3x superdivine 30 year old weeks ago. But I didn't.
Now next season, if I don't win both easily, well, THEN I'll be pissed. Given your inability to score on my double superdivine keeper, I'm frankly not all that worried.
Again, despite rebuilding your team, which has a negative effect on perfomances no matter who you are, and you are still able to get a 3rd place finish. Wow! Also, shows that you purposefully handicap yourself (because you are such an awesome manager, obviously!) by only purchasing and playing developing younger players instead of purchasing mature 27-30 yr olds. Otherwise, as you conclude, winning against managers such as Dag would be easy.

Wow. Won in the 90th minute after outshooting him 18-2. My form SUCKS.
Every team has bad days, but the great teams (and managers) grind out the results even when it seems the shots just won't go in. You are an inspiration to all of us hoping to get to the ML!

Short two starters and pulled a tie. Ok, I suppose.
Again, hampered by injuries or red cards. Notice, you are so used to winning, that you are indifferent to a draw despite your disadvantage. Me? I cherish getting a draw over my usual loss.
I could probably go on and on with your statements in the past, but I think this proves my point. Despite your pseudo-humility or effort to lower expectations, there is no denying that you are one of the top managers in the USA and I assert that you are less worthy than I at running for the Non-NT candidacy.

Wow Jlw! it gets even more interesting. You are a good challenger for the Non-NT position.
i think JLW might work for one of those presidential candidates........

Do you plan to take your non NT campaign global though? That's what would swing my non vote. Although you have your work cut out as there is a clear early leader on the international stakes!
To JLW - While I appreciate your attempts to buttress my lack of qualifications not to be NT coach, the reality is that with way better players I should have won the title at least once by now. I'm about to buy a 3x superdivine striker, and I imagine I'll do no better than 2nd place this season either. This is a statistics based game. Short of tactical incompetence, the best players should win. They don't, because I suck.
Gibby - I have started to extend my global reach in the UK, but there has frankly been a disturbing lack of support for my non-candidacy there. I am concerned that my disturbingly high ranking in the US may be confusing MBC (My British Cousins, you know) the same way that JLW is unfortunately misinformed. Just think how the Poles would react.
Now if my candidacy received more international support, I'd likely have no choice but to throw my hat out of the ring in other countries too.

Jon, I'm afraid that we may have to agree to disagree here, but I fail to follow your logic. Just because you fail to beat 1 or 2 of the best managers in the USA does not qualify you for a Non-NT position. Just look at poor Harry Redknapp - he's struggled for years with teams such as West Ham, Portsmouth, Southampton, and, more recently, Tottenham and he is currently being heralded as the favorite for the England National Team manager position without ever winning a premier league title (in fact, I'm pretty sure he has never finished in the top 3).
Also, I'm not convinced that you have better players than Dag or Slammmy (I'm willing to concede you have better players in those age groups but not overall better players). For instance, I looked at the last 4 games last season for you, Dag, and Slammmy. Dag and Slammmy had average markings of 66.75 and 66.18, but you averaged 62.84 per game. However, I realize that towards the end of the season, you were without a proper striker so I also looked at your games in weeks 6-10 and your average was still only at 65.76. So even then Dag and Slammmy's players were performing better than yours. I think you are doing a great job in finishing in 3rd place. Your lower ratings are surely a result of only playing players under 25 years old. If you were to play older players, I am sure your rating would jump into the 66-67 range and you would stand a better chance at beating Dag and Slammmy. I will, however, say that it is charitable of you, being as great a manager as you are, to limit yourself with younger players in order to give Slammmy and Dag a fair chance at winning the ML. Anyway, if this won't convince you nothing will, so I will leave it up to the rest of the managers within the USA community to decide for themselves.
