I disagree, I'm barely breaking even financially now, and that's with taking nothing but away friendlies.

I'm not even THINKING about opening up a junior school for 2-3 seasons. I can't afford the residual expense.

Wait with the opening when you are promoted to the A-League and start the second season there and you will already have a stable financial situation

I agree with Adivip. In the next season you will have higher income from sponsors and you will certainly be able to afford to set up a junior school.

and with that, my team will be battered, I'll be losing supporters every single week due to having a near winless level.

My team cannot compete with A league teams. I honestly wonder if I'd be better off NOT promoting.

edit: the second time I bounce back up from B league, I'll be fine though. My trainees will be 21-22 then. I've got a good training system in place, I just naturally can't be sure about the talent of the guys I bought...but I think they have decent starter skills.
Then again, maybe that's the time I sell the youth and start over with better youth, and use money to build my stadium a bit.

I just see a very long road ahead for me.

I always think that it is worth getting promoted, in Poland I had the youngest team that advanced to the third league :)

It's definitely worth it. When I first was promoted to A-league, I thought that I would lose so many supporters and finish near the bottom. However, there are now more teams in each league and inactive users that finishing mid table in your first season is possible (thats what happened to me pre update). Also, with newly promoted clubs your ranking points will be low compared to stronger squads and losing matches shouldn't affect fan morale or attendance as much. I can't say the same thing for the ML and I am glad I lost my qualifying match :)

I agree with Sebek. After promotion, it is definitely worth investing in a junior school. An example of yesterday's transfer: Phillip Peercy [38819605]. I bought a player from Andreyouthman for PLN 6 million. Such money keeps the junior school operating for two seasons.

This ranking point system is a fair counterpoint, actually. I don't think this was 'a thing' way back when. I noticed the other two teams in my division in line to promote have considerably higher points. They must have been around longer.

Perhaps that will mitigate fan losses next season after all.

In A league what coach and how many spots in junior school would you recommend?

In the junior school it is necessary to leave 6 free slots before each Saturday recruitment. That is, 6 free slots at the beginning. It is worth starting the junior school with a brilliant coach. If you have any questions let me know.

iirc each spot is 4000$ and brilliant coach salary is 30-35000 so assuming 6 spots thats around 55-60000$ cost per week. is that doable in A league? I just advanced to A-league but the sponsors pay only 89000$ per week and the stadium is still small.

weird. I thought each YS spot was 1k/week. This would still make running a youth school about 55-60k/week (30-35k coach, 20k in spots). If it's 4k a spot instead, that's triple yikes.

Either way, I'm staying away from youth school until I build up my stadium to maybe 20k seats. It's a money pit/lottery.

you are right, it is 1000$ per junior, so I guess that makes it ~36-41k per week with 6 spots, which is still a lot if sponsors pay only 89k

The way YS works, you have to plan/allow for 20 spots. If you don't, you can save money but you could also miss out on the one actual talent that you can make money on.
The output of youth school is 1-6 players, at random, every week. If you say leave 3 spaces for youth, and the game decides (on the back end) to give you 5 players - and sees you only have 3 spots - it will only give you the first three kids. Makes sense, right?

What happens if that 4th kid is the one who will have high talent and come out 'magical'? Well, you've missed out because you didn't have enough spaces open.

So, when planning a youth school, I feel like you have to factor in 20 spots at all times. You won't always have it, but you have to account for the possibility every single week (well, once you first get enough kids in the school - maybe a month in?)
