It's because you came in with no expectations as a promotee.

I had 100% both of last two seasons ( edit: to be clear, I had 'brave fight for points, the lowest expectation, both seasons since my money is perpetually poor). Like me, you don't fully understand how this system works. As soon as you have real expectations put on you, you can go 18 and 4 and your fan base isn't going to be 100%.

That's what many of those older players in that Dev forum thread were complaining about. I had your same mentality last season. Basically "I'm winning a ton, what's wrong with you guys". It's the expectations aspect that's kinda broken for the better teams. There's functionally little to no difference to fan happiness between 5th or 6th, or 1st and 2nd. Imagine being expected to win the league, winning the league...and having your fan level at 4 since you didn't go wire to wire.
Even when I was in first place for a couple weeks, the fans were 'delighted'.

I bet Atlantic's fans are pissed, for example, and if I'm right it's just as whack. Guy's in third, not 6th (for now)

I wonder where my fan base number is relative to the rest of ML.

I expect it'd be in the middle, honestly. Only a couple of weeks ago did the gains finally slow down, but then again, I've lost 3 of my 4 games in the those past weeks (Cup semi, Sebek, and now Nippon), so I may still be right around ML average.

"It's not really half-assing, there's no other way for me to give 96-97% of training to 16yo/17yo players that I train, what else can I do? They need to get 90 in friendly and 36 in official. IMO that's a serious issue of this game, making it effectively unable to both play for results and train."

totally agree. that plus the fact that one needs to train per formation and not per player. that's just dumb.

Just for comparison I have 2138 supporters, 77% fan mood and 100% satisfaction with recent matches and above expectations. I think underperforming in a higher league is better the over performing in a lower league.

I think mid table in ML is about the sweet spot for me while still getting 96-100% for all my trainees. I am currently #3 in ranking points

You are actually an ideal comparison to me because of the reality we both arrived at the same time, and we had the exact same expectation from our fan base. Our overall records are also similar since arriving at ML.

You came in with more fans and reputation due to sitting in A1 for a few seasons. However in the past two seasons I've clearly caught up on that. The system kept giving me 20-30 fans a week every week since I was winning more than losing, and my fan base total was considerably lower than the league mean. I also had that 'brave fight for points' working for me. I also was playing the reputation catchup game which I'm sure was feeding into this.

In both cases, our reputations seem to work against us, since neither of us have the third/fourth best team in the league. You may have been close at one point but you've sold off star players for a slight rebuild this season. Which of course, doesn't properly get factored into subsequent results.

If this whole thing didn't factor into what I could charge for tickets, I honestly wouldn't care at all, but ticket revenue is my main source of income.

I think underperforming in a higher league is better the over performing in a lower league.

I think of it as a ”slow cooker” gradually adding while still having a space to grow.

Settling in the 4-5 range has definitely hurt my supporter growth as I only get 1-5 weekly (occasionally upwards of 9). I don't always sell out my stadium for this reason but it's enough for me to sustain a sizable youth academy, slowly grow my budget, and employ 5 magical coaches. So to me thats way more important.

Who knows, maybe your fan count will continue to grow? Clearly you are trying to win the ML with some aging talent and tactics so maybe you can sustain this indefinitely.

I sold some players to get younger and try to move towards an all US team but missed out on Kris Fischer. Now I'm really not too sure what my next moves are other than to get younger and more talented. Hopefully the game spoons me some YS talent since I really haven't had any in 2 seasons.

Well the problem is I haven't waited around for multiple rebuilds to keep everyone young, because that's far too boring. You can't tell me you had fun squashing A1 for four straight seasons.

I do have the same 5 magical coaches, and I'm sure you've noticed I've been playing kids in league games all along - including the first season I promoted where my team was laughably underpowered. I've only got five trainees from my beginning left due to needing to sell guys to finance the stadium. We can't all have youth pulls bringing in a million or so, can we https://sokker.org/player/PID/39293511.

The long term goal was only buying seniors for defense and goal, I suspect it'll be the second gen that this fully applies too, since I won't need to spend 7 million on a stadium and a couple million on coaches (over my lifetime)
