Athos, you got robbed on the age. He would have been an amazing 18 yo trainee.
2006-12-07 18:18:52
This isn't HT. People put too much emphasis on trainee age over here. My 2 22yo's pop faster than any of my young trainees. And high level youths are likely to be much older than lower level ones.

the other thing that cracks me up about HT is all the one trick ponies (skill wise) that are passed along as elite players there.

I like the balanced player development here much better.
2006-12-07 19:31:56
Anyone who knows anything about HT doesn't consider the one trick ponies to be elite players.

White elephants, maybe, but not players that will vault you up the series ladder.

I do agree with you about the balanced player development here. It certainly makes training decisions a lot more interesting.

No thoughts, so he's listed to the highest bidder.

Isn't that redundant? Could anyone but the highest bidder get him? ;-)

Age does matter though, just not as much here as HT. Your 22 yo's that pop faster are probably either more talented or lower skilled than your young trainees. The younger trainee with equal skill, equal talent will pop faster.

I would rather take a lower skilled 17/18 yo with big talent, than I would a 20 yo with a few extra levels of skill.

well i have an incredible head coach........so he will be a very nice player by the time he is 21.......

He will. :)

Meh... it's harder to find a 17/18 yo with big talent. The age decreases in time to pop are not big enough justify the expense of finding a 17/18 yo with the sideskills that I want. I'm perfectly happy with sticking with the 3 week to pop 22 yo's over unknown commodities.
2006-12-11 09:17:06
you know young players with good skills had to come out high because of talent though. by good i mean at least an outstanding pull having 4-5 non stamina skills already over good. not many can afford these players though
2006-12-11 10:51:58
I don't know. I've certainly "tricked" buyers before... If a 17 or 18 yo comes out solid or very good, with only 1 pop in 12 weeks, he still might have decent side skills depending on luck of the draw. Then the buyer's stuck with a no-talent assclown.
2006-12-11 20:39:01
hahah, i like using that term. but anyways, define decent side skills, because i dont think my definition of them would even come close to what would resemble a very good pull
