Well my name is Rafael Tapia.

I am 17 years old

I play in A-League 04

I have played sokker for 6 full seasons

I was NT coach assistant for Lakay all of last season. I helped him scout opponents, scouted for players, gave him opinions on what I thought the right players should play, I always told him everything i thought was right. So I already have NT experience. So I think I am the right one for the job.


I will be running this season as NT coach because I know that I can accomplish great things. I am a very good tactician, you can see that i'm an excellent tactician by looking at the past ratings of my league, I had a rating of ~42 most of the season but I still managed to get points of all the teams in the league, even though they were getting in the high 40's.
I am also a mentor.As you can tell I like to help people get started in this game.
I also spammed soccerproject and HATTRICK just to get more users in USA

I know that being NT coach is hard, but I will do the most I can to let the youngsters get trained correctly.

Im also very active on the forums, as you can see I always watch the NT games live, so as you can see I'm very interested in the NT.

I have 2 preferred tactics, one of them is 4 defenders in the back with 2 defensive mids and 2 offensive wingers with 2 forwards.
The other tactic is playing something similar as the NT u-21 has been playing which is 4 in the back and 1 defensive mid with 1 mid up front supported by two wingers and then 2 forwards up front.

Even Seca the NT coach of NZ has said that i have very good tactics.

This season I also started with a 3-3-1 record in the first half of the season, but then I turned it around and finished with a 6-0-1 record just losing once in the second half of the season compared because i had 5 starters out for that league game.

And I'am also open to any suggestions any coaches out there have

I know to be the NT coach you need great responsibility. I also think that Lakay has done an excellent job with the NT U-21

Lets pretend you have to choose between these 3 players and you can only pick 2. Tell me which players you pick to support the future of the NT and why (Assume naturally that for an important qualifier the best will be chosen by skill and this scenario refers only to games where the result is less important than the future experience)

GK Age 24, Maximum Keeper skill, high secondaries

GK Age 21, middle-low high Keeper & Secondaries

GK Age 17, Very Good Keeper with Solid Secondaries

Assume that all have dedicated trainers with a long term outlook.

@Vondocha: Thank you for volunteering to help me and you showed great dedication and passion towards the USA NT. You were a great assistant coach and I'm certain you will make a great coach if elected.

I wouldnt choose the 17 yo only because I dont know if he is going to be talented and if he is going to be trained correctly.

i would choose the 21 yo because he is for the future of the NT and to get his trainer to continue training him in the right skills,and the 24 yo cant be left out since he is the best we got ;)

thanks for giving me the priviledge of helping you with the NT, I know we have both learned a lot of different stuff from each other, at least i have :)

Vovo can you really handle it? Based on the league I am not convinced your tactics are up to par. Nor am I sure you know what to do with players older than 21 ;)

Vondocha, some of the players you've posted in that Jarhead thread have made me wonder about your ability to evaluate how good players are too.

You dont think I can evaluate how good players are? I'm 100% sure that I know how to evaluate, you can ask me for a opinion on any player you'd like ;)

A bit late as apparently 9 people already have their minds made up (huh!?) but I suppose it doesnt hurt to apply as I'm not running anywhere else and I know my following faithful would like to see my strike of finishing runner-up to every manager that has been elected continue. :)

This is where I'd have to ask for clarification, and the reason why I asked both candidates this question. Are you saying that this player is the future of the NT just because he is younger than the 24 year old, or, because you've actually thought about the situation and come to the conclusion that the 21 year old will have a far more lasting impact on the NT of the future than the 24 or 17 year olds can have? Please explain...

Back when Lakay asked us to send U21 players to you, I sent you the skills for two of my players, Conway and Quaranta. You told me where Conway fell short, and said nothing of Quaranta. I figured he'd made the team. But after looking he wasn't on the team, even though your own Santo Nyei, who was clearly inferior to Quaranta, was on it. I sent Quaranta's skills to Lakay and he asked me where I'd been hiding him.

So no, I don't think you can evaluate players, and I won't be asking for your opinions on any players.

I chose the 21 yo because the 21 yo can play games here and there and it will encourage the manager to keep on training him.

I don't want to impede on your thread anymore now that I have a thread of my own, but what I was looking for in my question was a more specific outlook of what you saw as the future for the players you chose in the NT, what role they looked to play as per why you were selecting them
