NBA = No Basketball Anytime.

They push, take four or five steps to shoot, carry the ball between dribbles, change pivot foot, and the referees do NOT call those violations.

I prefer to watch NCAA college basketball where the rules are enforced.

But still, you like basketball, so its not so bad :) In all europe first sport is football(soccer) and only in Lithuania first sport is Basketball :P We are crazy on this thing ^^ Maybe you know Linas Kleiza, Zydrunas Ilgauskas or Darius Songaila? They play in NBA but maybe you have heard about them?

I live near Cleveland and have enjoyed watching Ilgauskas (we call him Z) play.
He also hangs around the same tavern I frequent and I've had several beers with him,really nice guy and extremely tall!...That being said the NBA is a joke until the play-offs and even then the rules are different for the superstars,just as Hondo said.It's more like watching WWE wrestling than an actual sport....A friend of mine is a high school basketball coach and I end up attending a lot of those games and really enjoy watching the kids play...Basketball is really a great sport to play,my second favorite to baseball,so it's no wonder it's catching on all over the world.

I am also a basketball fan. I don`t have any TV channels showing NBA, but very often I can see NCAA matches live. And quite often I watch them. But the reason I don`t like NCAA as much as NBA is due to some rules. Firstly the shot clock rule - 35seconds to hold the ball is way too much. Because of that game tempo itself is very slow. Secondly during the free throws it`s very weird to see 4 defensive and 2 offensive players on the board.

I enjoy European basketball more. But of course Americans think opposite - depends on taste clearly.

I have also noticed, that there is more people watching NCAA basketball, than NBA matches.

Hey Vilpu, i have a question which of these two teams you like more:

Vilniaus Lietuvos Rytas or Kauno Zalgiris?

I hope you know them, baltic giants lol ^^
2008-01-02 16:13:33
Of course I know them.

Right now I prefer Lietuvos Rytas. Don´t know even why, maybe because I like Stelmahers. And one of my favourite Lithuanian player`s played there recently - Jasiaitis. (Don`t know how to spell his name though)

Even our clubs (Kalev and Rock) have been close beating them in this season.

2008-01-02 16:32:10
So all here americans prefer NCAA and not NBA O_o I havent seen live (or full) NCAA game so cant say anything, but probably its intresting if there so much fans of it :p

NCAA = pure basketball

NBA = street basketball

actually, women's basketball is about as classic as it gets, but it's just boring because it's just not as athletic.

Doesn`t it bother you that the NCAA`s game tempo is much slower?

Anyone knows where`s Greg Oden - Last season I saw, when he played in college. Is he injured?

*Goes to google*

Oden got hurt and is out for the year.

I agree the shot clock in NCAA could stand to drop to the NBA's number.

However, they actually call things like traveling in the NCAA, unlike the NBA.
