Hi Guys!

I am going to New York for a week and I have got some questions about USA. I thought this was the best place to ask them, thanks in advance!

- When I buy a DVD in USA does it have ´Dutch´ subtitles?
- How much dollar costs an original Bjorn Borg boxershort (just to get an impression of the price of cloths)?
- When I buy a game for xbox 360 can I play it on my european xbox 360?

Any other tips are welcome!!

Kind Regards,

Paul

1) Not that I recall ever seeing.
2) My guess is that you have NO chance of finding ANYTHING with Bjorn Borg on it (shorts or otherwise) in NY or anywhere else in the US. What kind of "cloths" are you asking about?
3) I'll have to defer to others on this question.

Other suggestions - be prepared to eat very well. Do you want restaurant tips or tourist-type tips or cultural (e.g. shows, museums) tips as well?

There even is a bjorn borg shop in NY, but why isn´t there anything of BB? It is very popular in Holland (casual and sports clothing).

I already have a lot of restaurant and cultural tips about NY, they all are very standard of course (liberty island, empire, ground zero, trump tower, etc., etc.). But might you have some very specific interesting tips which hardly anyone knows then they are welcome of course! ;)

I thought you meant Borg's face or something. You may be able to find something from his clothing line.

You have to give more information about what kinds of restaurant you want to look for.

If you go to ground zero, go across the street and shop for clothes at a HUGE store called Century 21. It is the best place in NY for anyone to buy very high end clothes if they are from the US. With the exchange rate, you could but a wardrobe for a king with name brands (mostly the high end european stuff like Versaci, etc) for about 25 cents.

Near there is an excellent steak house called Mark Joseph's. Expensive (not really with your exchange rate), but it is the best steak restaurant in NY, and I have been to pretty much all of them.

btw, who else is horrified that trump tower is something he'd be suggested to visit, but yet broadway or any museums don't make his list :)

What about the 25 cents guys? I don´t get it :P

@Quac: could think of anything else atm than the Trump Tower, but of course broadway and some other museums are on the list too, and of course the national park, in which I will be spending a lot of time in the sun I hope :)

Any other tips guys?

Trump Tower is creepy. Skip it.

When I was in downtown NY, I was taken out to a nice lunch at least once a month. More in December and January.

I can vouch for the grub at Mark Joseph it's top notch!

Dont buy x360 games there (if it isint already late..), they have region protection, so wont work in PAL (europe) region, except games whit games where is writen "Region Free"

Same applies to DVDs and that's also why you won't find any DVDs with Dutch subtitles, but if you would, you wouldn't be able to play them with your DVD player.

Up!

I have plans to go to NY with my wife in march 2010 for about a week. I would like some suggestions about a good and nice located hotel for 5 nights in Manhattan for around $700-$1000,-.

Also, what's the best way to travel in NY: subway, touristbus, by foot? Can you buy discountcards for subway or touristbus?

Which attractions are a must to see in NY?

Lots of questions :)

1) You will never find a hotel in midtown Manhattan for $200/night including tax.

2) Travel means really depends on how far you want to go. NY is very walkable, but it can be sort of chilly in March. If you stay in Midtown and mostly hang out in that area, you are fine doing it by foot and an occasional cab. If you want to go to see for example the World Trade Center site, you are fine to take a subway. It isn't quite as user-friendly as Paris, for example, but it can get you most anywhere safely and quickly and cheaply. You can get weekly passes.

3) Attractions - WTC site, a few broadway shows, any number of museums, Central Park.
