Peppolone para Todos
Great choice
Great President
Great Obama

glad you approve.

what specifically do you approve of, other than that he's not bush?
2008-11-05 18:01:01
we'll see. I did vote for him, but only because the Republican party failed me insofar as producing a ticket/alternative I could vote for with a straight face.

Obama has a lot of upside, that cant be denied by anyone... we'll see how we look at him in a couple years.
2008-11-05 18:03:09
it's really interesting how strong support obama has from outside the USA. Just wondering why they support him.
2008-11-05 18:41:25
just my .02.

The same reason he was able to amass so much money in fund raising.

He's an outstanding public speaker. He's moderately young by presidential standards, and moreover, I think he couldn't be any more different then George Bush.

Europe can sit here and say they can't stand America/Americans, but for most of them, it's simply bluntly directed hatred of American foreign policies under 'W'. The rest of the world knows full well they need the USA more then the US needs the rest of the world.

so you are from Italy. a country that has been an Ally of the US.
my boss is a strong republican. he asked me if i indeed was worse off that I was 4 years ago. he of course was talking about from a financial aspect. I said to him, "our country, in the eyes of the world, is not better off than it was 4 years ago"....he stopped debating me.
2008-11-05 19:25:46
Probably because his image is shown there like in Brazil or everywhere... McCain would be a Bush - Part II, Obama is shown like the opposite.

I voted for Obama. I won't deny that. It is with some regret though. I am a pessimist I guess you could say, and I see that Obama will make plenty of mistakes and piss someone off. Sure he has promised to bring the soldiers home, but having friends who have been in Iraq who have told me that, that country is nowhere near stable enough for us to pull out.

By leaving the country to themselves, it will only further the power of those small groups who are already terrorizing Iraq. Their attacks will grow more frequent and more violent when the US is gone simply because they have no threat of retribution.

Mark my words, in 4-6 years, we will be at war again.

I cannot STAND ANY of this political garbage.

Best thing Obama could do for the poorer Americans is to nationalise the medical sector, reduce taxes for the lower and middle class and immensely increase taxes for the upper class.
2008-11-05 20:54:05
The rest of the world views the USA as weaker with Obama as President.

That is not my opinion, Just something I read in a poll taken by the BBC.

economists would say that's a sure recipe for disaster. It'd kill investment, triple welfare as people are laid off bigtime, etc etc.

It's also pretty much a socialist agenda, eh? That has been sooooo successful in most countries that have tried it, eh?
2008-11-05 20:58:17
lolwut? Soviet Union?
2008-11-05 21:06:16
is that a joke?
2008-11-05 21:36:55
yes.
2008-11-05 21:40:35
Yes, providing universal health care for everybody would be a total disaster. They have it in Germany, Sweden, France, Canada, and just look how the middle class is suffering there. It is sooooooo much better here with no coverage for 40 M... But, hell, we don't want to be socialists, do we.

No, it's absolutely not a disaster. Almost all European countries are using that system and it's working everywhere. Costs for medical services are much cheaper in Europe because hospitals, doctors, etc. don't try to make maximum profit of people. The richest European countries are all socialistic countries.

The ten countries with highest nominal GDP per capita:
1. Luxembourg
2. Norway
3. State of Qatar
4. Iceland (might have changed in the meantime)
5. Ireland
6. Switzerland
7. Denmark
8. Sweden
9. Finland
10. The Netherlands

All Scandinavian countries (Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Iceland) and Finland very socialistic. The Netherlands also are a socialistic country. About the other European countries in the list I'm not sure, but they're more socialistic than the United States
