it helps to have a degree in some field pertaining to police.

i.e. criminal justice, criminology, sociology, etc...

If you are planning on going into a federal position, the degree is almost a necessity.

If you just wish to work in a city police department, then the degree isn't as necessary. let me know what you are looking into doing specifically, and I might be able to help you out somemore. I'm currently attending university to become a federal agent for like the FBI or ATF

hmm..I'll say it so:

I'm 17 years old, I'm passing secondary school certificate in next year.In the Polish Police you are allowed to work if you are 18 years old (or more of course :p ) and if you have secondary school certificate..and I don't know what to do later :| ..

1. to join the Polish Police and start studying on ''Polish Police High School'' , then could I move to Usa for some time or forever to work in American Police?

2.Are there any High Police schools in the USA where civils are allowed to study? If there are I could try to get there to study

If I stayed in Poland I would join the Police after passing Polish secondary school certificate and I would start studying on the Police High School (it takes 3 years) ..

do you have any idea how to do it so that it takes as a little time as possible? I mean that I want to start my work early and then if necessary start studying..

What I want to reach :D :
I'm 18-19 years old. I live in the USA and I'm working in the Police here or I'm studying in the kind of Police School as a civilian. If I work in the Police, I could also start studying something (it's possible in Poland to work in the Police and study..I hope in the USA it's too :p) ..if I am already a policeman it might be some other things (not exactly a kind of Police School) ..for example: criminal justice, sociology etc ..

or:
I'm 22-23 years old.I finished studying in the Police School in Poland where I worked for 3 years as a policeman :) ...after that I moved to USA to work here :)


Do you think one of these ways is possible to fulfil? Is solution nr 2 possible at all? Would it be credited that I studied in Poland (these studies takes 3 years)

the age requirement to work for federal institutions is 21 for most. There may be a few at 18, but I haven't really researched them as much. Also, US citizenship is required for most of those positions.

secondary school = like high school in the USA. There are police academies where you learn the basics of policing and such. They are found in almost every major city. They will allow you to get 3-4 years of experience if you'd like which would allow you to move onto other opportunities within that police department.

Your second plan should work as far as I know, It would get you some experience to base things off of. When you then moved into the US, you would probably have to go through the police academy, but you would already be at an advantage since you have policing experience. Make sure your fluent in English as well. And from what I hear about policing, you are usually expected to work 3 12-hour days + overtime if needed.

So if you have nothing else to be doing, you could probably be a part-time student as well. Taking around 6-9 credit hours a week wouldn't be too bad on top of the work schedule.

ugh.
1) you must be a citizen to work for any police force in the country.
2) there are "peace keeper" classes for those interested in becoming an officer and they are for anyone interested in taking them. they are usually taught at local community colleges. they don't really help you get a job as a cop, they are more for people who want to work at detention centers and similar areas who need "peace officer" certification.
3) the police academy is only for those people who are hired to be police officers. whichever force hires you sends you through their own academy for training.

How long would I have to live in the USA to get citizenship?
