They choked, for sure. Had some help, though. Cole got tackled after the whistle. Guess who gets that 15 yard penalty with 15 seconds left? Hrm. Nice to see how the Dawkins interception didn't get reviewed. Holding happens all the time. Odd how the Giants seem to get most of the benefit in that game, though. But the refs stink, for sure. They just stunk consistently in the Giants favor as the Iggles were choaking.

Philly v. NY. NY fans are obnoxious, loud and ignorant. They like to yell about how wonderful they are. They ALSO like to say "Well your arguments stink, so I'm better" just like you do. Well, if the Metsies and Phillies play in the LCS (yes, I know that division teams don't play in round 1), we'll see what happens.

Pitching - I didn't talk about old stuff. You did. I like the rotation now of the Phillies more than I like the rotation now of the Metsies. I also didn't say that Gordon was better than Wagner. I just said he wasn't washed up. (By the way, with 12 more appearances than Gordon, it's not so surprising that Wagner has 7 more saves. Given the same number of appearance, it seems likely Gordon would have more saves).

Booing Santa Claus? WOW. Talk about old history. Nice to see that you are as current about fan stories as you are about everything else.

Re sweep - Doh.

Wanna bet a cheap player transaction here or in HA on a sweep if the teams play? I'm happy to do that.....

I didn't brag about the finals. I didn't even bring up ancient history. You did by saying how they both won the same # of Cups. Shrug. If you want to talk about history, close is better than not close. I prefer to talk about this year. The Flyers are going to be #1 or #2 in the division. The Islanders likely won't make the playoffs, and their 15 year goalie will continue to be mediocre forever.

I vote this in jon's favor so far. NY fans are as bad or worse as philly's. His points about the pitching were right on. Mind you i think the better team is the mets, so it's impressive he's even holding his own.

His sweep thing was bad, tho, so that hurts his rating.

And sorry islander, the eagles lost that game, you didn't win it. If you ask me, looking at the game right now the eagles are the better team, and you should be able to admit that. When the giants had that debacle in the meadowlands years ago, even after picking my jaw up off the ground i was saying that the eagles were lucky and the giants played better. Well in this one the eagles were even more dominant and there were 4-5 flukey luck-outs that the giants got (and yes, capitalized on, but still was WEIRD). We'll know who the better team is in 15 more weeks.

Finally, HOW ABOUT THEM KINCKERBOCKERS? Lol, sixers suck too.

He's probably a Nets fan. Another thing about Nooo Yawkers - they seem to go from team to team depending on which is better. Amazing how many Giants fans used to be Jets fans, and how many Metsies fans were Yankees fans until recently.

Guacamole: what are you talking about?

The Giants are easily the better team. We simply are beating ourselves on defense. We had the Colts by the ass all game but because our secondary can't catch a ball thrown right to their hands (over, and over again) we lost.

And remind me exactly how one team 'loses' a game but the other team doesn't 'win' it?

It's a choke job no matter how you dress it up. Toomer and Burress combined for almost 300 yards. The Eagles dominated for 3 quarters, but it doesn't matter if you get your teeth kicked in, in the 4th quarter, and blow all you gained in the first 3 quarters.

Dude, you only won because of of a long string of freak plays, if you can't see that, get some therapy. :)

But this was a soccer thread>:{

"He's probably a Nets fan. Another thing about Nooo Yawkers - they seem to go from team to team depending on which is better. Amazing how many Giants fans used to be Jets fans, and how many Metsies fans were Yankees fans until recently."

I'll try to reply to all these as fast as I can.

No, I'm not a Nets fan. I'm a 'Bricks' fan - but a casual fan at best. I could care less for basketball, especially pro basketball.

I've been a Giants fan since around 1983. Same with the Islanders, but that was as much coincidence they were dominant as it was the fact I was 9 years old.

And Yankees? Dear goodness no. I can't stand them. I could at least respect the Yankees in the late 90s - before they 'merc'd' out starting with Giambi.

I thought about bringing the topic back to soccer, but honestly this is a USA forum and no one in the usa really cares about soccer :)

Spoken like another Philly fan.

No, we won because your team didn't execute.

Fluke plays happen for both teams each game. Sometimes more then others, agreed.

But in the end, there's one thing - SCOREBOARD.

The Eagles offense is pathetic. Their defense will carry them as far as they can go. Let's see how far that is without Kearse.
2006-09-21 17:33:27
The eagles offense certainly shredded the giants, lol.
2006-09-21 17:37:53
I do. And vondocha.
and my brother.
and my father. my mother. and their families.
we're all latinos though.
=p
so there must be other latinos that like soccer too

Ok, move the football chat or islander/jonandabby mutual admiration society to another thread plz.

The Iggles offense got 309 yards in the first quarter, and then imploded because Reid is an idiot. McNabb is the #5 ranked QB in the NFL (and #2 in my fantasy league). The Eagles have the #1 overall offense in the NFL.

Again you reply with odd theories not borne out by the facts. Impressive consistency, anyway.
2006-09-21 17:47:30
LOL, getting to your last point Jon, all you do is divert attention to the previous arguments. You crack me up.

Let me give you an example.

Talking about save totals b/t Gordon and Wagner. Where exactly was that mentioned previously?

oh, that's right. It wasn't.

You can like your rotation all you want, thats your opinioon and that's fine.

As far as booing santa claus, I did include current history - the ad hoc court system.
Here's a thought - maybe if Philly fans didn't have such a reputation, there wouldn't be anything old or new to reference, eh?

But once again, you choose to ignore the points that make sense and make lame quips about the ones you can :)

We can totally drop the hockey tangent. You brought it up as a diversion anyway.

I'll take blame for the football one :), I still don't mind talking about that one. It fascinates me how the scoreboard says New York 30, Philadelphia 24 yet the Eagles are the 'better' team.

If you were the better team, you'd have won...no?
2006-09-21 17:48:50
The eagles offense certainly shredded the giants, lol.
-------------------------

Thats more an indication of our pathetic pass defense.

We aren't going anywhere playoff wise if they keep pass defending like they are. A high school team could put 250 yards in the air against us now.
