does clue 2 implies that we have actually beaten them at all?

it is actually intended for a different reason to that, so it doesn't actually imply we have beaten them at all, but there is enough from the question to deduce whether we have or haven't.

slightly reworded the 2nd clue a bit as I had missed a word when initially posting it, so I modified it to make it clearer.

have had a few people answer it correctly already, although most of those did go through the constructing the whole table thing :).

putting up the next clue now. Gave a little longer today due to the hours of downtime we had overnight, (not that many of you would have been on then anyway ;) )

next clue going up now. Pretty much everyone who has entered this round has got the right answer before they've run out attempts. So if you think you know the answer take a shot, worst that will happen is you'll be wrong but if you get it right you get some points and are in with a shot of having one of your players play for the NT later in the season :).

oy, what a time to pick for competitions... i think i will sit out on this one given the amount of holidaying im gonna do before uni starts..

Well that's the end of this round. Scores will be up shortly. Gives me something to do other than what I was doing which was taking me hours and I'm still not quite done there yet.

For those in the competition the answer I was actually looking for was:

New Zealand

The table was constructed based on total points against each nation, in a system very much the same as how the league table gets sorted ie points then goal difference etc. Was trying to not get an obvious nation that people could guess randomly in one or two minutes, but it turned out we still had a fairly easily guessable nation :).
