Asunto: [NT] Elections - Candidates

2008-02-05 14:01:22
Hi Sponkie

How would an Australian NT database work?
I have a 22yo potential U23 DM. What information could I get from the DB?

How will your DB help the Australian NT and how is it different to other NT databases?
2008-02-05 14:01:39
1. Your previous NT Manager experience seems to be with newer countries and smaller user-bases. What do you expect will be different with a somewhat older country like Australia?

2. What are your goals for your first term of office?

3. Who are your favourite Australian NT players at each position? (GK, DEF, MID, ATT)

4. Can you provide a link to a game (NT or club) where you scouted an opponent and successfully countered a strength of theirs and/or exploited a weakness? (A brief description of what you countered/exploited would probably be good)

1. In what way do you think you will be able to improve australias tactics?

2. And kind of connected, link 3 matches in the previous season where you would change the tactics and how would you do so to make them more successful

Hi Sponkie. How would an Australian NT database work?

Like all Databases, you submit your players skills and NT Coach work will be more easy to see the better players

I have a 22yo potential U23 DM. What information could I get from the DB?

Nothing from DB.But you will have also a "Best Of"(like this) website,so you will see how good is your player respect the other players.

How will your DB help the Australian NT and how is it different to other NT databases?

I think that with a DB the "Scouting job" of all players will be more easy.I'll also add the Sokker NT Database Extension to automatically add or update a player

1. Your previous NT Manager experience seems to be with newer countries and smaller user-bases. What do you expect will be different with a somewhat older country like Australia?

Easy question:I'LL WORK BETTER!i'm sure of it.It's always difficoult to lead a small and newer National Team.I expect that will be very different!!!!I will work with strong players and i think that is the time to lead a stronger National Team like yours.I'd be glad to lead your National Team.

2. What are your goals for your first term of office?

1- publicity campaign, becouse Australia could have more users
2- Tutorial to all newbies.
3- Improve all junior teams
4- be sure that all the best U17-U21 players are trained
5- win some matches (but not the last point) :))))

3. Who are your favourite Australian NT players at each position? (GK, DEF, MID, ATT)

GK: Brendan Ando
DEF: Dustin Pierce i like him a lot!!!even if i don't know his skills
MID: Andy Willis oh my god!!i love him!!!he's Borko's player!! i've got i private note of his skills in 14 march 2007
ATT: Dean Byers and William Newhill [ok,he's too old,but he's the history of Australia] :)))

4. Can you provide a link to a game (NT or club) where you scouted an opponent and successfully countered a strength of theirs and/or exploited a weakness? (A brief description of what you countered/exploited would probably be good)

sure!

I could link a lot of matches.but please see my last match and give me a comment please :))
Anyway,i'd prefer to show better my tactic point of view.I like to play with 2 kind of strikers:

1- the striker (he must to have high striking skill and of course he shouldn't be weak to the other skills..)

2- the forward (he is a movement striker,he play all around the field,he must to have high TECH & PACE skills)
example of my offensive point of view(where n°10 is the forward and n°11 is the striker,n°11 is on the ball immediately out of the area to try to shoot from outside and also into the area, while the n°10 follow the line of the ball)
i also take a lot of importance to the throw in tactics. It's very easy to have chance to score like this from it.If you scout your opponent, you can understand where put or not the midfielders for the throw ins. You'll be glad to see how does this tactic work!!:)))

Another information,if you don't like the offencive play, please don't vote for me.I am a man that don't like to play very defencive.Sometimes i've tried it,but i don't enjoy so..i'd prefer to play offencive!!for me it's the same to lose 10 or 5-0,so i prefer to lose 10-0,but try to score 1 goal..than play with 8 defenders and lose 5-0. :)

1. In what way do you think you will be able to improve australias tactics?

Well,i like to play with the best tactic as possible, but all depends of my players skills. If i have got slow midfielders, than it's hard to play with wingers. It's hard for me to answer you..it's just a little bit soon..anyway as i've just told in the previous message,i like to play very offencive & spectacular, you should see my last match if you're looking for an example

2. And kind of connected, link 3 matches in the previous season where you would change the tactics and how would you do so to make them more successful

I don't like to talk badly about cometer tactics or something else,i like to show my point of view and try to understand if Australians could appreciate or not how i like to play.

So,to answer your question:

Australia - Mexico (too low defence line, the strikers was always free to shoot from outside the area, too bad midfielders line and Willis was useless in that position)

again (same tactic, same considerations..Australia was very lucky.

Australia - New Zealand (don't like anything of this kind of tactic, but maybe cometer would try a new tactic,so i can understand that he was right to try it in a friendly match!) :))

anyway,it's hard to find bad matches of Australia in last season, becouse Australia made a quite good qualification,i must to admit that Cometer jobs was not bad at all!anyway,he made nothing special becouse he lost against the better teams (Mexico & Argentina) and he won against the weakest teams :-)))

Generally the most important thing for next season in Australia is getting higher in the rank, so that Australia will have better chance in WC Quals...
2008-02-05 20:17:06
of course,you're right mate!

;)
2008-02-05 22:19:36
Are you aware that by being the NT coach of Australia means losing at least once per season to NZ in the trans-tasman battle?
2008-02-06 01:36:02
how much a serious psychoanalyst in NZ?because you'll need it after that match!!

[mdr] :-O)

Vote 1 Frankie Farina.

I am nominating myself for the position of national manager. Below are a few areas i feel that i can contribute to the team and stand me out amongst the other managers.

Career
I spent four seasons as a player manager at Brisbane strikers then Marconi. From there my dreams were realised as i became the national coach for australia. Highlights of my coaching career was a 3-1 friendly victory over england. Another great achievement was getting my good mate David 'Zdonkey' Zdrillic into the side. His career blossomed off the back of many national goals against such great sides as Tonga and American Samoa.

Starting out
Once elected myself and the team will get straight into team bonding sessions. Mostly this will involve numerous nights out on the ale. Ill encourage the guys to drive home afterwards, im sure its 100% safe.

Respect
Over the years i have built up a great deal of respect with my peers. I imagine that everyone here feels the same way about me. If not ill start whinging to ensure that everything goes australias way. Theres an old saying where im from and thats 'nothing beats a good whinge'.

Selection Policies
Basically ill be picking my mates. They may be old has beens but they the best players for the job. If there are any criticisms of my policy i might bring in a couple of young guys to appease people. In reality these young guys will be talentless hacks who happen to be my mates. Our good talent will get disillusioned and play for croatia.

Tactics
There is only ever a need for one formation. Nothing beats a good 4-2-3-1, so we will stick with that for all our matches. There is nothing more exciting than grinding out a great 0-0 with two defensive mids to protect the back line.

Backroom Staff
I admit my one weakness is excuses. Im not the best at making excuses so i will bring in my best mate who is number 1 in the world at excuses and thats Graham Arnold. I also hear he is a favourite with the fans. In the off chance we have a player that doesnt fit into 4-2-3-1 we will also have super coach Branko Culina who will help me place players out of position.

I feel that this crack team and myself will be able to take australia to further glory. With such a strong speech and amazing CV i dont imagine there will be any questions.

So get in there and vote 1 Frankie Farina.

The Current Season

I’ll be running for elections again this season. Despite failing my major objective of qualifying, we came extremely close and had potentially the best season we've had to date. We only lost the 2 games (Argentina and Mexico). We were able to defeat a higher ranked nation and arguably a better national team side in Colombia twice, including a 6-1 hiding in the final week as well as draw with quite a lot of stronger NT's (Canada,Argentina,Mexico,England) the latter we had never even scored against until this season.

Other things that have happened during this season has been the inclusion of Achmid as an assistant manager. This has had a few significant impacts. Our tactics as a result have been quite unique, each with it's own strategy backed in behind it, as a result of being able to discuss the whole issue. Other users have played their part as well throughout the season i.e. naphtali and vivski. There was also an introduction of an age rankings guide to compare where your player sits relative to others in their own position and age group. This required a major search and find mission, which was accomplished between the two of us in a few days. As a result we located a few decent prospects, probably the most noticeable one to most users is Bowyer, who played against Canada last weekend.

Our ranking points also improved from under 1600 to currently just over 1700 and that's even after the tough group we've had.

Anyways, those are some of the things that have happened this season. Here's a bit about my own achievements in sokker.

Sokker Achievements

I've been playing 8 seasons of Sokker now and have now controlled the national team for the past 3 seasons.

My achievements in Sokker in the 8 season period have been:

2 time A League champion
1 time Australia Cup Winner
1 time Australia Cup Runner-up
1 time Australia Cup Semi-Finalist
1 time Qualifier for World Cup (Australia)

For those that weren’t around last season I’ll add the same thing as last season’s election although many of you now know how I operate.

Reasons why you might want to vote for me:

- I'm a dedicated user and spend quite a large amount of time on Sokker and would find time to dedicate to managing an NT side.

- I'm a decent tactician, definitely not the world's best but still improve with every match and guarantee I have serious thinking before every match about the best approach to the game.

- Easy to talk to person who enjoys new challenges and is always prepared to listen to pretty much everything including criticism.

Possible reasons why you might not want to vote for me:

- I’m an Australian user which would mean I would be competing against some of you in the league and I would most likely have to know the NT player skills if I am elected. I consider myself honest enough that I wouldn’t abuse this privilege in any form.

- I've been here 3 seasons in a row and you might be getting a little tired with the same manager again ;).

Goals for the new season if re-elected

1) Improve our ranking points to avoid the same mistakes that happened to our qualification group this season.I intend to do this via the MWC where we can clean up a few teams there, and then hopefully go on and win it, although there are a few decent teams still in it. After this I'll be looking for mainly games where we should be able to pick up points but there will be a few against some stronger sides to try and give some variety.

2) Minimum Requirements list for the National Team.
I had a few requests for this over this season, especially towards the end of the season. Instead of putting it up then, I decided it would be better if I put it up start of next season, as things are likely to change especially for U21's.

3) Continue to set good standards for managing the NT via communication to and from users, considering their ideas in relation to the upcoming match or where they want the NT to head towards as well as trying to keep the forums active.

They're probably my 3 biggest goals for the upcoming campaign and I only set goals I can realistically think I can achieve, and I believe I can accomplish all 3 of those.

That's about it, I guess it now comes down to you now to decide who gets elected.

Thanks again for the opportunity this season.
