Todos
G'day all,
I'm a bit confused on what to do with this player. I am currently training pace but will be changing to striker either next week or the week after for the rest of the season, then tech next year. Do you think it’s worthwhile training him in striker or should I sell him to another trainer who could train him in his areas of strength. He has a very good skills distribution so could be just about anything and his talent is good at ~ 3.5. What would you do and are there any interested trainers out there who want to buy him? I think he could make NT one day but what position depends on his training.
Kevin Rudnicki, age: 21
value: 526 800 AU$, wage: 4 720 AU$
club: Snappa Serpents, country: Australia
unearthly form, solid tactical discipline
weak stamina, tragic keeper
outstanding pace, solid defender
very good technique, very good playmaker
very good passing, good striker

he'd probably be best off as either a midfielder or defender then as a striker, although he could still be that.
As a midfielder he'd need more passing,pm and technique but as a defender he'd only need defending really.
Of course, he'd still need stamina for whatever position you chose.
That's just my opinion, although he could easily be turned into any of the 3 major positions so really it comes down to what do you really want to do with him.

I'm very interested. I have a couple of players who I can sell. I'm training passing and playmaking for the remainder of this season, bit of stamina at the end, then onto pace and defending next season with some technique and passing/pm near the end of it or the season after.

I'd love to pick him up, 'cos he'd slot in alongside O'Sullivan who I am dedicated to training. But from your perspective, you're probably best of selling him when you start training striker.
Either way, give us plenty of warning to sort out finances. :)

He's a gun and don't sell him! So fun to have a quality player that can win the games almost by himself!
I think he is to valuable to be made into a defender (unless you allready have some extraodrinary talent up front), so I would make him a midfielder.
Not an attacker as his skills are so well distributed making it possible for you to have your own Fabregas, Gerrard, Lampard or whatever big gun you'd like to compare him to :)

I think the best question you should be asking is are your prospective striker trainees really so good that you'd rather sell this guy than sell them?
He's the sort of guy worth centering your training around.
If you're going to stick with training strikers, then yes, sell him. I'm sure you'll be able to find any number of takers around the place.

Yeah naph's made the best point so far.
Not sure why you'd want to be training strikers when you've got this guy!

Thanks all for your advise and it's as I thought it would be 'why do you want to sell this guy'?
Here are my potential striker trainee's, I think there are a couple worth keeping but in lieu of Rudnicki that's the $1m question. Either way there will be some decent trainee's being sold and huge changes at the Serpents over the next 2 weeks. I have a big decision to make on whether I'll be training forwards or midfielders.

From what I see there, not knowing their talents, Eagleton and Langdon are the most promising. Passing and PM would not be wasted on either of them as they'd make quite handy AMs.
Tana and Viduka both need tech quite badly, which would also benefit Kev.
Webb is the only one which would fit a straight striker training program.
If you had 3 which looked like Eagleton and 3 which looked like Webb, then that'd be undoubtedly a striker training regime. But I wouldn't be able to train striker to a guy with tragic tech.
Just my 2c. You've no doubt been considering the future of these players a lot longer than I have.

For a short time you can probably have your cake and eat it too by training pace (your entire squad is young, so not a bad idea) and tech. Assuming that those trainees are talented then that would probably be my recommendation. You won't hurt Rudnicki by giving him 1-2 levels of pace and tech before you sell him and you'll probably up his price.
One option to consider if you decide to keep Rudnicki until he is 24+ is to train PM early. That would enable you to keep Eagleton and Langdon (both would use their passing much better if they had more PM) for longer.
In all honesty I don't think anyone but you can answer what to do here. The rest of your squad is young, we don't know their talent. How many mid and/or def trainees do you have? what is their talent? How much money do you have to spend? If you don't have enough mid/def trainees, do you have enough $$$ to make the switch even if you wanted to? (mid trainees tend to be more expensive than striker trainees) How much time do you play sokker? Do you have the time to trawl the transfer markets and make the transfers necessary to change direction?
As far as $$$ go there is a lot more money in training players to have multiple stats above 10 rather than training them in the levels below 10. So don't go half-and-half and try and train everyone a little bit. If you're going to train guys like Tana and Viduka you should be planning on getting them to 12/8/12 (pace/tech/striker) or something similar/better before selling them... that's locking in your training for some time, which is fine, but realise that is what you are doing.

Thanks guys, I think you've helped me to make a decision, even though it's probably just short term. I'll move to tech training (midfield) after a few pace pops.
I've got about $3.5m currently in the bank but that will get a substantial boost when I sell my defenders as they pop in pace. This will help to replace the defenders with older guys and pump some money into an older striker and some more trainee's.
If I can I want to keep Rudnicki, Eagleton and Langdon, so tech training will help to keep them just a little longer.

inform us when you're gonna sell, i'm interested, especially if their talent is good :)
