Asunto: Competition Time

That time of the season again. Starting this a little later then I would have liked but we'll see how we go, still should be able to get in 4 rounds, the plan is to play our competition side against Costa Rica, yet to be confirmed but that would be the ideal time to play a competition side.


Aim of this competition is simple. Guess the score between the two sides and guess the time when both sides score their first goal.


Point system is as follows.

5 points for a correct tip (result wise)
+3 bonus points for a correct margin (must get correct tip right to get the bonus)
+5 bonus points for correct result

Then there are other points awarded as well which are:

Guessing the exact time when the first goal is scored : 20 points

Guessing the time within 5 minutes either side: 10 points (e.g you say min 25, goal scored between 20 and 30 inclusive will get you the 10 points here)

Guessing the time within 10 minutes either side: 5 points (e.g you say min 25, goal scored between 15 and 35 inclusive will get you the 5 points)

Guessing the time within 20 minutes either side:
2 points

For these points you can only get one of the categories, so if you get it exact you only get 20, you don't get 20+10+5+2 etc.

Note: You do not have to get the result right in order to earn these points and so the minutes you choose can be completely different to what result you've tipped. That is for example you can select min 50 for the away team to score their 1st goal even if you tipped the away team to fail to score. That's if you choose to do so, you can still stick to your tipping result if you wish.

In the case of not having enough time either way it will overlap, so stating a goal in min 5, in the case of range of 10, means anywhere between 85-15 and also covers the case of no goal being scored.

For those who wish to select no goal for a specific team use 0 as your minute number.

Overall standard tip (same as any other tipping contest)

In the unlikely case the viewing has a different minute displayed to the report, the report is the one which will be taken.

think it's more likely Achmid is covering the case Russia does score. So he has a better chance of getting points even though it stops him from getting the maximum he could have gotten. In other words he's going in safe to get something out of the game, rather than go the hog and try and get everything at least that's what I'd read into his decision ;).

so basically the final score and the time of the goal are two different and independent bet...

well yeah, you can get the minute correct and not the result. The only ones that require getting the result correct are the bonus points for the result. The minute stuff is just something different to try and give another chance of picking up points. They don't have to match, although if they do match and it's right you'll most likely get more points then doing what Achmid did, but yeah if they don't match it kind of gives you a fall back option to score points.

That's fair enough, I'm still unsure myself, I'll find out asap though.

They wanted a 1st XI match to test their tactic against a stronger NT, so by that logic, we'll be going in with our 1st XI side again. I'll look for an U21 opponent for next week to give a bit of variety to the season so far.
