Asunto: National Team

Yeah, playing 2 wings didn't really work too well. I had noticed that wingers had caused trouble to Lietuva in the past so that's what persuaded me to try the two wingers.

I had not a lot of choice with keeper selection since Ando was injured (although clicked over to slightly injured after the updates) so that didn't help much apart from all the early misses which gave us a slight chance when we drew level 1 - 1.

As for playing too offensively, well I didn't really want to play super defensive as although it would minimize the damage we wouldn't have been able to score. Using the two wings probably backfired but it was a gamble I took which was to try and get some open space.

Still when you look at the Lietuvan ratings, we were always going to up against it as they are a very strong team. Need to go and defeat the other 3 teams now ;).

Keep the post match comments coming, the more things I hear from people the more I learn about how to fix things for the future :).

Well, you gave it a crack.

I thought Lawton had a great game. He played very well against some impressive strikers.

I have to say I think the tactic didn't work. We didn't exploit their weaknesses and didn't tune it enough. Players were wasted in defence no matter where the ball was and the wingers were neither here nor there. Sitting wings in the middle of the park (especially 2 of them) was not going to hurt them. We were left with holes in defence and no avenue to goal.

Broxton and Nikas did their best, but too often they were at a disadvantage before the ball even came near them. Lietuva were never going to hurt us from the wings so we needed to defend a bit more narrow.

Veart and Widera... well what can you do. They were in the right position (probably one position too forward) but they just didn't want the ball. What can you do when the midfielders act like the ball has anthrax on it?

I thought the forwards were positioned quite well... maybe not quite deep enough for counter-attacks (often they were caught infront of the defs), but when there's no supply it's hard to score.

So in summary, I think our tactic could have given us a much better chance... but all the same, we could've had a better tactic and been beaten by more. 1-4 is a decent result but one we can probably improve on.

Why isnt Baveas playing? He never missed a first team match with borkos in charge. He is now in divine form...

We'll do better against you next time I'm quite confident even though we still might not win.
