Good luck :)

We play with a lot of youngs players and with a lot of new Nt players :)
I hope that our first caped players will play a good match :)

The moto : No injury, no red card :D

Sorry for my bad english :)

we were well beaten. Attacking throws in backfired yet again, whilst defensive throw ins didn't do the same job back. Lots of errors that were made by myself and certainly wasn't a game I was too happy with.

Other than that, France were always going to be stronger than us.

Will rebound next week I should hope and play a lot better.

Expecting some criticism but I'm ready to take it so by all means go ahead, just try to make it constructive ;). Feel free to sk mail myself with explanations as well.

Why did you give players without defence so many defensive orders? :|
2007-05-05 09:51:54
I gave 5 players defensive orders (including the sub), that being for our top U21 defenders. I don't really understand what you're implying here.
2007-05-05 09:53:45
I was talking about Evans and Thompson paced so low :/

That wasn't done to be defensive. That was so they could get the ball in space and pass inwards without having to cross it. Usually works quite well, but it didn't work today.

:|

I'm just disappointed that you haven't used Thompson as a high winger...which is Australia's biggest weapon :|

throw ins were shocking, strikers just weren't placed right for me, France's were i think. Midfield looked a bit empty too which i think is usually a strong point of aussie, not sure about the juniors though. Byers mucked up a few opportunities too, showing that he should be relishing the tech training.

Yeah the throw ins were terrible. Back to square one I think for those next week. Midfield was certainly too open for them as well. Those were the two most disappointing areas I found but they weren't the only ones. Midfield isn't really that strong for U21's. Most of our midfield strength lies in 22yrs and higher. I don't know about the strikers. I thought they were placed reasonably well (compared to other weeks), but yeah we didn't get enough of the ball down there to really create any chances.

A few sloppy defensive errors by the side allowed France to put away a large number of goals.

I'd rate this match if I had to around 2/10. I really need to do better, but having this kind of a domination game two weeks running will make myself a better tactician. I don't enjoy losing at any stage but I learn more things from losing then when I win.

Time to go beat Norge next week :).

There isn't a good central mid in U21 at the moment. Good one's are allready 22, or are young yet.

Btw, cometer, isn't Paul Ngata NT ready yet?
2007-05-05 11:29:58
Australia's biggest weapon :s. I'd strongly disagree on that borkos. Since the new match engine changes our forward wingers have been relatively useless. I would have agreed before the match engine changes but now it just opens us up too much.

not from my sources. I'll check again but from the latest information I've had he isn't.
2007-05-05 11:32:34
But it's a great way to make opportunities...to take the ball away the def has to be 2-3 levels higher in defence than winger in technique. Watch todays EestiU21[with one 22yo DEF :( my mistake :(] vs IslandU21.

Despite having much worse players the high winger of Island was doing great work...same right mid of Eesti who was playing a little bit as central mid, offensive mid, right mid and high winger...

Ed: Yeah, checked his value...another destroyed Australian player :/

Yeah, I'm not disputing wingers don't work, I'm just saying it is limited for our particular side. Having Leijer injured only added to that problem. On another notice, Dreger and Willis need to get in form, would seriously help :(
2007-05-05 11:40:36
Yup, as far as I know Dreger would do the 1st team in form..:/

Willis would be quite useful...
2007-05-05 13:08:11
depends on the players. If they had higher tech i think the positioning would be great, but yeah. Mind, those defenders were pretty hardcore too...
