get to the A League and you'll face the majority of the midfield :p. As for a specific game no you can't.

Well we've done our job today winning 5 - 1. We need 1 more point to guarantee a top 3 finish and a world cup qualification spot. Now we wait on Norge v Ireland. A draw or a Norge win seals us in the top 3, An Ireland win puts us 2nd in the group. Either way we have Lietuva and Ireland still to play and we need to finish as high as possible to be better placed for the world cup draw.

:D We're now officially in the top 3. Just checking other results now but I think we're certain of playing in the world cup next season :).

edit - Yes, we indeed are.

Congrats on a fine qualification run to date.
2007-05-26 12:55:02
Cheers. There has been a few games which haven't been great but 6 wins from 8 and a world cup spot I guess I can't really complain.

I now have to focus on the next task at hand which is to try to finish 2nd in the group. We're 1 pt behind Norge, both of us have Lietuva to play.

I'll be looking for 4 points from the remaining 2 games although I'd be satisfied with 3.

I'd have to recommend spending all your time focusing on those two games. I certainly wouldn't be worried at all about your league match tomorrow.

Grats to cometer for doing what borkos couldn't last season :P
2007-05-27 07:54:52
Thanks to Borkos for putting the Australian NT in a position to make it to the WC this time around. We're certainly in good shape and it's in no small part due to his great work. Thanks mate.

Dave, that game against Greece was absolutely superb! The formation was nigh on perfect. Ando didn't have to defend his goal once in the first half and they didn't have as many shots as we had goals. Nicely done! :D

I also agree that Borkos had done a lot of the hard work to get us into this sort of position but I was glad I could continue that good work and secure the world cup spot. It's now all about how high up we can finish to give us a possibly easier group next season.

Cheers. I knew going into the game that it was a strong chance a win here would secure us in the world cup. I also had a score to settle with them after last time when I had set a fairly average tactic.

The nerves didn't last too long though. I barely had time to blink and we'd piled on 3 goals.

Only thing I noticed was that our defenders started tiring in that 2nd half which gave them some chances against Ando. Might need to look at using that 3rd substitution for future matches.

Shame about Ando getting hacked down whilst running around as a midfielder today...
2007-05-27 15:41:58
Yeah that's painful. Fortunately it's not as bad as it potentially could have been had we been fighting for the world cup spot. Will be missed that's for sure.

Well done Cometer, you got the results that we couldnt.
Having said that i've still got a big target placed on you in that last game and a point to prove if i want re-election next season :)
2007-05-27 17:44:41
cheers. That was really the difference, we got 3 points against Norge, you got 1, and then we knocked you off in the opening round which was a paper scissors rock outcome in many ways. Second time around I'm expecting to be a lot closer.

The Norway games bug me. We outplayed them both times and only ended up with 1 point.
I'll be interested to see how you do against Lietuva. They have good players but are quite beatable if you get the tactics right.

We take on England today in a few hours. Don't really expect we'll do much but it's an u21 match so anything is possible. We've never scored against them but we've conceeded 26. That stat doesn't look too promising. I feel fairly confident we can play well against them and time will tell. A few players back from injury whilst Leijer again misses out due to injury :(.

We're also picking up in users which is a positive sign, but I'd like for them to become active in the forums.

Any last minute suggestions will be taken into consideration, although the general tactic has been made.

A 2 - 0 loss today and a few flaws in the tactic followed by a few unlucky breaks to key members. Wasn't the greatest match I've seen us play but we got caught offside too often and the times we got through we were quickly shut down. Offensive throw ins were terrible to put it lightly, I over estimated how far they could throw the ball and the English had them covered anyway.

Our defense held on as much as it could have. The loss of Pierce and Rex early really hurt the stability in the backline as many players tired too quickly.

Things didn't go to plan but we weren't thumped on the scoreboard, we were just thumped in shots and territory.
