Knew you'd try the offside trap, was always going to happen, they use it far too often. Then given that I played Willis behind the striker line, to sneak onside if the strikers weren't and I knew anything down the middle to your defs was going to be problems if Byers tackled cleanly or Hirons/Richter beat the first defender.
The red hurt us though, cause it gave you that extra space in the middle.

yes it was. Was meant to be, because apart from the offside trap NZ have been mixing it up, so instead I played to our strengths, so it was always going to be a 4-1-2-1-2, although I did think of a 4-2-1-1-2 and a 3-2-2-1-2.
When you have Willis, a tactic is going to be rather predictable as he's by far our best player in our squad and as a result of no defense he's really only got 1 spot he can go. That doesn't mean that the suttle changes, like throw ins, and general positioning around the field doesn't change, because that can make a big difference. The fact I noticed Cerb and Griever weren't talking much about the match, I figured it was also safe to be rather predictable as they would have unlikely seen that from us "closely" before. Wouldn't have played that if Seca was manager still ;).
The defense though was pushed up more then usual, you may have noticed, couldn't allow Bodger, Hird to fire shots from long range as they'd likely nail one or two ;).

I was always thinking about using him as a CM without defensive orders....not that Id be suggesting anything...=p

it's possible for sure, but given NZ were likely to play offside I needed someone to break clear if the strikers couldn't and as you know, once Willis gets in behind the defenders, they've got a lot of work to do to stop him :p.

Wait, didn't we use him more centraly (maybe not central tho) and people got up us?
I thought when Oliveira got given the straight red, we were going to be under the hammer a bit but we were able to still create chances which was the pleasing aspect. Richter needs to learn how to head a ball into an open net from less than 1 metre away :p. He made up for it though ;).
good game cometer. we finally broke the duck against the kiwis. now for the poms.... :P
yep there were still a few flaws though I picked up which will be worked on but I was happier with the back line this week for sure.
blah silly work. 2 hours to go (hopefully) Damn emergency work :(
It really isn't the duck sx. Sriram defeated them in Australia's 2nd ever NT season and he's also the only person to take Australia to the World Cup!
